August Members meeting
Holmesville Public School, Holmesville, Ontario
The minutes of the last monthly meeting (June) were passed as
printed in the Rural Voice, on a motion by Walter Elliott, seconded
by Andy Durand. Carried. No business arising from the minutes.
The guest speaker, Ruth Jackson, Vice President of the
Consumer Association of Canada, was introduced by Bev. Brown.
Mrs. Jackson spoke on some of the services CAC provides for the
consumer. She commented on quota values, marketing boards,
advertising, food prices, as well as items from the "Economic
Council of Canada Report"
A lively Question Period followed after which Mrs. Jackson was
thanked by 1st Vice -President John VanBeers.
NEW BUSINESS:
Hydro Line Hearings In Listowel: Adrian Vos made a motion that
we start to participate in the hearings to be held in Listowel,
seconded by Walter Elliott... amendment by Johr Van Beers,
seconded by Bev Brown that the persons or person attending
hearings be paid a per diem...amendment lost. Original motion
voted on and lost.
NOTE: Tony McQuail, as a representative of HCFA had already
attended the first meeting in Listowel on July 9/81 and made a
