Many area farmers question the timing of the release of the proposed routes. and of meetings that will be held to discuss them and Rural Voice talked to both concerned farmers and Hydro spokesmen. Recent tough economic times have spawned new discussions of old issues like supply management and Rural Voice was in the audience to get producer reaction at a Harriston meeting on beef supply management and a Brucefield meeting where pork producers questioned their provincial representatives. When it comes to protecting farmers and their products, the European Economic Community has it all over anything that exists on this continent. Rural Voice writer Adrian Vos outlines some of the European solutions, starting on page 11.
