should be full public involvement in locating such facilities
and whereas in a statement to the legislation on June 2, 1981 the
Honourable Robert Welsh indicated that the government
accepted these recommendations
And whereas the government has now instructed Ontario Hydro
the public involvement stage of the hearing process between now
and the early fall.
and whereas this timetable will make it very difficult for "full
public involvement" of farmers concerned with "minimizing the
impact on high quality land"
Therefore be it resolved that Ontario Federation of Agriculture
request the government of Ontario to instruct Ontario Hydro to
revise its timetable for public review of the study during the late
fall and winter.
And further be it resolved that if the government insists that
such a delay will be too costly. it consider the costs of its six
month delay, and provide funds to the farm community to allow
adequate compensation to farmers who take time off from their
farms to provide public input."
Tony McQuail to phone this resolution to Toronto on June 5,
1981. Huron County Energy -Hydro committee to study report
and discuss at next meeting. The July monthly meeting to be
cancelled. An August meeting to be held the first Thursday in
August. Time and place to be announced.
