Windsor Castle for an audience with
Queen Victoria, and she presented him
with the autographed photo of herself now
on display in the museum.
Before Rev. Henson died at the age of
94, he made one more pilgrimage- back to
the Maryland plantation where he was
raised.
Isaac Riley, his former owner, was
dead, But Mrs. Riley remained to greet
the former slave.
"Si," she said, "you are dressed like a
gentleman."
"Ma . 'am," the minister said respect-
fully. "I always was."
Travellers can reach Uncle Tom's Cabin
by driving along the St. Clair Parkway
(formerly Hwy. 40) from Sarnia to
Wallaceburg, jogging east to Dresden on
Hwy. #78 or can reach Dresden from
London by travelling west on Hwy. #2,
cutting off at Hwy. #21. Uncle Tom's
Cabin and Museum and picnic grounds is
open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. until the
