Bright, breezy again
Even though the phone call was necess-
ary to find out when our subscription was
due. --it's worth the extra to ensure the
fact that we not miss a single issue of
your magazine!
You are hitting your stride again after a
slight slump, and the original bright and
breezy style is back again, --thank you!
Everything about the magazine is good:
I'd like to see a spot of poetry more
often, --about places and people of South-
western Ontario, either current or of long
ago. --or just limericks as "pick-me-
uppers"--?
We are indeed grateful for the news
and views and reviews of The Village
Squire.

Photographer R•R Sallows
was my grandfather
In the article by Sheila Gunby about
R.R. Sallows (who was my grandfather -
my mother was Mrs. Charles Saunders).
The little girl in both pictures was his
daughter, Verna. now Mrs. Burton. She
phoned me the other day, and 1 told her 1
would have the magazine sent to her.
All the articles in your magazine were
most interesting. Thank you for sending
this order for me.

Daughter wore hats
in Sallows' photos
A relative kindly sent me a copy of the
May issue of Village Squire. I had not
heard of it before.
My interest is in the article about my
Father, R.R. Sallows. I am now pushing
73 but still have a collection of childhood
pix I think would make a charming small,
slim book. All with birds and animals and
H -A -T -S! 1 must have been born wearing
a hat. each one seems bigger than the one
before.
Those glass negatives were buried on
the farm of Tom Bamford, near Auburn,
Ont. His daughter would tell you as 1
understand she is the Goderich librarian.
Will try to contact Ronald Wilson by
phone tonite. Haven't seen hint since 1
was seven years old!
