Port Stanley couple
hopes to launch galleon
Steve and Jeanie Martin are setting
sail on a plan to prove that dreams can
come true if you are willing to work for
them. The small step between the dream
and fruition is something the dreamer has
to fill in.
The Martin's dream is to build and
eventually put to sea their own Spanish
galleon. They started work on it early this
summer after planning and preparing for
it for ten years.
They hope the boat, which they are
considering naming the Golden Lion, will
be ready for the water next summer. The
Port Stanley couple are building the
vessel beside their home.
The first step in the construction is to
prepare a steel frame for the boat. This,
they hope will be completed by late
October and then work on the interior will
commence.
Mr. Martin is a London-based
lithographer and his wife runs an
antique shop in the village.

10 year old London
poet is published
Young Eleni Kapetanlos has taken a
first step that some have waited years to
taxe and have often never made.
The 10 -year-old London poet managed
to get her first submissions published
early this summer in Poetry Toronto. The
issue featured children's poetry.
And although it was a children's issue,
the editors of the poetry periodical told
her they would have used her work in a
regular issue.
Fier pubtisning success led to poetry
reading sessions at the Poetry in the Park
series in London this summer. She was
the youngest poet from the arca to
participate.
Eleni's mother, Marianne Micros, is
also a published poet. and her father,
