There's nothing to do around here in the summer.
How often have you heard that plaintive cry, and not just from
tiny kids?
The August issue of Village Squire has stories of many
interesting places to visit close by in Western Ontario, with or
without your kids.
Writer Elaine Townshend describes a string of small museums
stretching from Southampton in the north to St. Marys in the
south. Susanne Jones outlines activities at the well known
Fanshawe Pioneer Village, and the not so famous, but equally
interesting Ska-Nah-Doht Indian Village near Delaware.
Readers interested in craftspeople and the wares they produce
will, enjoy reading about Village Squire's visits to Sommersun
Glassworks near Dungannon and to Libra Gems in Goderich.
History buffs might like to take a trip to what remains of
Narcisse Cantin's St. Joseph, after reading about the man and
his dream in this issue.
Next month Village Squire's September issue will focus on
food. If you hurry there's still time to get a recommendation for
your favourite area hamburger joint in to us at Box 10, Blyth.
Our October issue will feature some of Western Ontario's most
interesting houses ...both good renovation jobs and outstanding
new homes. If you know of a house that shoulq be included, write
us now with your suggestions.
Regular readers will notice a new subscription card inserted in
this month's issue. That's the beginning of a campaign we're
launching for more Village Squire subscribers. Use the handy
card to give someone a gift subscription, or pass the card along
to a friend who shares your interest in the good life in Western
Ontario.
