The Rural Voice, 1979-06, Page 58F 1 NEWSLETTER Huron County Federation of Agriculture Area Office: Vanastra, Box 429, Clinton Speakers available for meetings The speakers roster set by the Huron Federation of Agriculture in 1978 has proven highly successful, says co-ordinator Doug Fortune. The idea of the roster originated with a public speaking course sponsored by the Federation in March 1978 and repeated in 1979. Most of the speakers involved are graduates of the courses. Letters were sent to all of the service clubs in the County explaining the program which is designed to enhance com- munications and understanding between farmers and consumers. To date topics have ranged from "How I became a pig lady" to energy conservation, pollution and erosion control, farmer/ consumer relations, marketing boards an a number of farm -urban related subjects. Speakers report that there has been a good deal of interest at the meetings they have attended with question and answer periods after the speeches being very lively and often running past time limits. Fortune says that if any service club has been missed or any other organization wishes to make use of the speakers available, to contact him at 335-3801 and he will try to find a speaker for any farm related topic desired.
