The Rural Voice, 1979-05, Page 30THE NEW ROTARY GLEANER CBUNE:
The 1979 Gleaner Combines. Legendary productivity.
"It's got capacity you won't believe.
There isn't anything on the market that cna
keep up with it," reports Charles Paulson,
Minnesota farmer and proud owner of one
of the first new Gleaner N6 "rotary" type
combines from Allis Chalmers to roll off
the assembly line.
Charles, who farms near Stewartville,
purchased his new N6 from Suess Farm
Equipment, Stewartville. He was moving
through 170 bu. corn at 5 to 6 mph the day
FARM SHOW stopped to see him and his
new N6 — one of about 55 prototypes
which Allis Chalmers delivered this fall to
select dealers throughout the U.S. and
Canada.
This year, as always Gleaner combines
are ready to rewrite the standards of har-
vesting productivity
L2/M2. F2/K2 Gleaner combines are
part of a legend that stretches over 55 years.
Leading the way in increased capacity. multi -
crop versatility, separating and cleaning
efficiency, operator comfort and conven-
ience More productivity per dollar invested
The leadership secret lies in the con-
stant refinement of proven principles Like
center -line design, down front cylinder. con-
cave door stone protection. 2 -stage threshing.
3 -stage separation and 2 -stage cleaning.
Features that have made Gleaner combines
the custom -cutter and individual farmers
choice.
But this year the Gleaner combine legend
is expanding in a new direction Rotary
The only rotary that meets the promise.
It took the experienced leadership of Gleaner
combines to turn the rotary theory into reality.
Bringing more capacity. not bulk. Durability.
not complexity. Full capacity on slopes.
Harvesting more grain with less chance of
grain damage. Resulting in more productiv-
ity for every dollar you invest
Taking the turning, twisting and tangling
out of high-speed harvesting.
Only the N -Series Rotary Gleaner Combine
feeds the cylinder with a natural, uncompli-
cated action.
Other rotaries must take the crop in a
rectangular shape and turn it into a
spiral configuration before it
travels through the rotor And
for discharge. the straw flow must
again take a rectangular shape. So.
at both feeding and discharge. the
others invite clogging. limit high-
speed capacity
The N -Series takes the crop in
and discharges the straw without turning or
wisting. Simple as that.

360° cage. Instead of using just half of
the cylinder/cage. the N -Series uses it all
a total of 5.749 sq inches. Separating by
centrifugal force and rubbing action over the
entire cage area. Part of the secret is the
exclusive cage sweep which keeps the top
of the cylinder clear of chaff buildup. So
grain can be separated easily and quickly.
High -velocity, 2 -stage cleaning. In stage
one. the exclusive accelerator rolls propel
the grain at high speed through a high -
velocity air blast pre -cleaning the grain
before it reaches the cleaning shoe
Final cleaning takes place in stage two
on the adjustable chaffer and sieve. With
this design, more air can be used to remove
more chaff while saving more grain The
accelerator rolls also deliver material evenly
across the full width of the shoe regardless
of slope This means full capacity on slopes
without slow downs
245 -bushel bin capacity...biggest any-
where. The mammoth 245 -bushel grain bin
capacity on the N6 (200 bu on the N5)
makes it the largest of any combine This
means you spend more time harvesting. less
time unloading. And when you do unload,
the full bin empties in less than 2 minutes
on the N6. 1.5 minutes on the N5. Auto-
matically. at the touch of a button
Change crops by just quick -switching
headers. With the N -Series there is no
changing of concave wires or grates to
switch. Like all Gleaner combines. it's just
a quick -hitch of the proper header to get
into a different crop In minutes.
Sharing the limelight with all Gleaner
combines. the N -Series also shares many
of their outstanding features. Like center-
line design. Tattletale electronic monitoring
systems. the hush -quiet cab and the service
back-up of your Allis-Chalmers dealer
Gleaner combines. A tradition of pro-
ductivity that has become legendary And
this year it becomes more awesome than
ever before with the long line of Gleaner
combines . including the new N -Series
