Bruce committee finds insurance errors
The Bruce County Federation of Agricul-
ture's Insurance Committee have discover-
ed that many of the insurance increases
passed on by Co-op this year are in error. If
your insurance has increased, contact your
agent and make sure the increase is
justified.
Brian Ireland, our past president has
been made chairman of the Farm Labour
Pool. He has advised us that the pool will
be opening a new branch office to serve
Wellington, Waterloo and Dufferin. Al-
though the decision is not firm, the branch
will likely be in Wellington Place.
Your directors are in full support of
O.F.M.A. We feel their service to the
farming community is indispensable. We
are concerned, however, that the C.B.
radio's they are selling now are unsatis-
factory. If you are having any problems
wiht theses radios please forward your
complaints, in writing to the Bruce County
Federation of Agriculture, 363 10th Ave.
Hanover, N4N 1P5.
Earl Dahmer attended a meeting of the
Advisory Committee to Bruce Economic
Development Committee March 12, 1979.
As the only farming group asked to appoint
a member we are flattered. We are also
very concerned. The scope of this develop-
ment is massive . The development could
be very good for Bruce, but we, as farmers
view it with some concern at this time.
Bruce County Federation of
Agriculture's past president Brian Ireland
and his wife Gisele attended an Optimist
Club meeting in Southampton last month.
Speaking to an almost total urban pop-
ulation Brian put foreward the farmers
view. He explained the function of the
Federation and encouraged everyone. pre-
sent to read the farmer price index as well
as the consumer price index. He received
an enthusiastic reception at the banquet
and good press after it. This kind of
community involvement is vital to the
O.F.A.
Eldon MacKinnon chaired a township
members meeting in Tara March 6. The
afternoon meeting was very poorly attend-
ed. It is to be hoped that next month's
meeting in Brant Township will be better
received.
The Brant Township Federation will be
holding a meeting in the Elmwood Com-
munity Centre, April 3, at 8 p.m. The topic
of the meeting will be the Brant Township
planning board. Speakers will be present to
outline the farming code of practice and
how it relates to the official plan. Brant
Township farmers are urged to attend this
very important meeting.
