The Chinese are prepared to negotiate
long-term wheat purchases from Canada.
This is one finding made by Industry
Minister Jack Horner who spent four days
in China talking with various Chinese
officials, including Vice -Premier Yu Chiu-
li.
More detailed discussions may be held
in early spring at a meeting in Ottawa of
a joint Sino -Canadian trade committee.
Canada is China's sixth largest trading
partner. By the end of last October, exports
to China had reached $414 million and
imports from the Chinese totalled $81

transferred from one farmer to another,
and the CFF wants all transferred quota to
be put under board jurisdiction.
Mr. Van Donkersgoed said, "The board
redistributes quota under a policy that
gives those that are large producers more
than those that are small, and we object to
that policy which lets the big get bigger
and allows the small to eet smaller."
The CFF also believe the present policy
prevents new blood from entering the milk
industry due to both escalating quota
values and the fact the quota goes only to
existing producers.

US pricing pressures
