Perth bean yield below average This year's yield of white beans in Perth County is approximately 1,080 pounds per acre which is up 300 pounds from last year but down about 300 pounds from an average year. Pat Lynch, soils and crop specialist at the Stratford OMAF office said dry weather earlier in the summer was the direct cause of the yield reduction. Also, Mr. Lynch attributed 10 per cent of the yield loss to poor weed control. Herbicides were affected by the dry weather because they didn't get moisture at the right time this year to activate them properly.
