Dutch Apple Pie
[Mother-in-law]
9" pie plate lined with pastry. In a bowl.
combine 4 cups sliced, peeled apples with 4
tablespoons flour, 1 teaspoon apple pie
spice and ' cup white sugar. Toss to coat
pieces and put in pie shell.
In a bowl combine'/. cup brown sugar '/z
cup flour and 1/2 cup butter. Crumble with
fork and put on top of pie.
Bake at 375° for 1 hour.
Baked Apples
Peel and core apples whole. Roll out a
square of dough about 6" x 6". Place apple
in the centre and put brown sugar and
butter in the centre well (about 1 teaspoon
of each) and fold pastry over apple one
corner at a time and bake at 350° for 1
hour.
Baked Apples in Sausage [own]
Peel apples and cut out a considerable
amount of core leaving about 1/2" walls.
Chop the core meat with sausage meat and
stuff apples. Bake at 350° for 3/4 of an hour
and the last 5 minutes top each apple with
a slice of mozarella cheese. Serve
immediately.
Apples with Red Cabbage
German recipe she got from mother
Slice unpeeled apples ('/z cup) per 4 cups
shredded cabbage. Boil until almost tender
with very little water. Add salt to
taste, and add 1 tablespoon brown sugar
and 2 tablespoons vinegar. Serve with
sausage.
