One of the most creative competitions
at the International Plowing Match is the
quilt contest.
This ancient craft has been long
associated with rural Iifc. And designs are
turning up every day that were created
decades ago.
The quilt plowing match competition
offers a chance for talented people to
design their own quilt.
At one point in time quilts once told a
story or celebrated an event like the bridal
quilt. The plowing match competition
requires that the design of the 'quilt be
based on some aspect of the plowing match
and that the minimum size be 66" x 78".
Besides the prestige of winning there is
also a cash prize of $100 for first, $75 for
second. $50 for third and $10 to all other
entries.
All quilts are the property of the Ladies
Program Committee until after the Plowing
Match when owners may pick them up at
the Craft Building at the site. September
30 at 5:00 p.m.
To date there have been 17 quilts
entered in the competition. Those who

Coultes. at RR# 5 Brussels.
