The Rural Voice, 1978-07, Page 26it provides the latest infor-
mation on a variety of
subjects ranging from field
crops to machinery operat-
iong costs ... perhaps 400
articles each ranging from
one to six pages in length.
For example, one article
deals with an office in the
farm home.
Another explains how to
determine the appropriate
time to trade in obsolete
farm equipment. It includes
charts that enable you to
calculate the operating and
capital costs of such equip-
ment as tractors and forage
harvesters.
In the section on agri-
cultural economics, there is
an article on how and when
to hold a farm auction, It's
the kind of information
that, if you did not have it
right at your fingertips, you
would not know where to
begin looking for it.
If you want to go into a
particular subject in depth,
you can obtain more
detailed publication from
Agriculture Canada or the
Ontario Ministry. Just
write for a list of their
publications and choose the
titles that appeal to you.
Agricultural trade
journals are usually ex-
cellent sources of inform-
ation, too, although some-
times a trifle shrill when
they get away from tech-
nical information and into
the realms of opinion. For
news about current dev-
elopments in the agricul-
tural industry, however,
they are invaluable.
One or two such pub-
lications dealing with
agriculture in general, and
one or two others dealing
with a farmer's specialties
will round out any farm's
library.
As with all business
expenses, the cost of books
and trade journals is tax
deductible. And it would be
the rare farmer who could
not quickly earn the price of
subscribing to these pub-
lications by spending only
half an hour a week or so
flipping through them.

Forage fertilizer could be the best
investment in low cost feed you'll make.
And the payoff is quality protein —
as much as 1 ton from every acre!
Ask about custom spreading right now.
