The Lucknow Sentinel, 1989-12-20, Page 150 On Friday evening a very enjoyable Christmas concert was I.held at the Centre. The Theme of :an "Old Fashioned( Christmas" was emphasized [by the beautiful decorations _arid ,kerosene .lamps. The .evening began with sleigh rides pro- vided ‘by John Farrell and Doug Mac- donald. Then over a _hundred sat sdnwn to a bountiful supper. •The program consisted of readings, ca pageant by The children as a chorus sang ¢Mary _had :a Baby"; and pageant narrated by Sarn and Heather Finnie .and portrayed bysome of the adults. These were directed 'by Irene Boyle. After enrol singing Santa arrived with a bag of gifts and treats for the children. The committee of Joyce Farr and Shirley MacDonald are to be con- gratulated on arranging such .an °enjoyable evening for the community. Kay Collins, Sandra and :Matthew McGillivray spent Thursday and Friday in Waterloo. They visited Margie and David Lochhead, Shauna, Rachel and Devon. Marg and Merrald Kuehl and Uncle Sam Wisner. Don and Marilyn Reid visited Murray and Gertie Henderson in Lucknow on Saturday . evening. On Sunday, Don, Marilyn, Brian and Jo visited Josephine MacTavish in Lucknow. A number from Purple Grove went by bus to Toronto on Saturday to see the "Living Christmas Tree" at the People's Church and really enjoyed the performance. Everyone is happy to hear that Stuart Dore has returned Lunn the hospital to his home in Bervie. Marion and Bob Emerson and Jane Her - Lancers defeat Teeswater The Lucknow Lancers picked up their second straight win on the weekend as they posted a 9 - 3 victory over a shor- thanded Teeswater squad. The Lancers got on the scoreboard first as Larry Mac- Pherson picked up the puck and just went straight to the Teeswater net and scored. The visitors :got. that one back to tie the score, :but Rod :Simpson and Scott Hackett scored one each to give the Lancers . a 3 - 1 lead after one period. The Lancers built .up a 6 - 1 lead in the se- cond as that scoring machine Art . Clark ,picked up two goals and Dan Gilchrist getting one Art Clark .added once more in ,the third for the hat ;trick while Dan and Grant Gilchrist scored one each for a final 9 - 3 score. Brad Priestap picked up five assists for the Lancers and Dean Lindsay picked up his first win the Lancer's net. BITUAR' `Thomas Luther Parker Tom Parker, of Washington, died ,peacefully, at St. ,Mary's General Hospital, ,Kitchener, after a courageous battle ,against cancer, on Saturday, December 2, 1989, in ;his 54th year. Mr. Parker 'was a son • of the late Thomas Parker and ;Elizabeth Dickson. He was the loving thfand of the former Gwendolyn 'Treleaven {formerly of Lucknow) of Washington; dear father of Bradley and his wife Pamela, Glen and his friend Evelyn, :all of Kitchener. Patrick Farrell visited with Jim and Fran Farrell. Kerry and Kevin Harrigan of Toronto and Kevin Boyle of London spent the weekend with Saris and Heather Finnie. They and Sam, Heather, Gabrielle and Spencer had dinner with 'Francis and Irene Boyle in Ripley on Sunday. Allan and Alice :Gamble hosted the Gam- ble Christmas .last Sunday in the Legion Hall. Thirty of the family attended. Joe and Janice Hodgins, Michael and Kelly had supper with Marion Gamble on Sunday. Brenda Bridge went to Kirkton on Wednesday 'to the farm of Dave and Laurie Lee Marshall where the Huron County Milk Committee hosted 205 elemen- tary school for a first hand look at the Dairy farm. The Huron County Dairy Princess and the Ontario Dairy Princess both were present. , Bette McLeod attended her Grandson Robert' 6th birthday party at the home of her son Noel in Etobicoke last week. On Sunday Bette visited Freda and Dave Owens in London and Roy and Madeline Davis in Mount Brydges. Merry Christmas to all! Novice house lore travels On Friday December 15 the Lucknow Novice travelled to Ayton for the first game between these two teams this year. Adana Cameronstood between the pipes for Lucknow and made army excellent saves. y the end of the first period, the game was scoreless. The host team was able to score a goal in the second and twice more in the third to go into a 3-0 lead. Dennis Lubbers then scored for Lucknow, with the assist going to Jordan Andrew, who was playing his first game of the year without the goalie pads on. Robbie McGee scored with Dennis Lub- bers getting the assist to close the gap, but Ayton was able to score once more just before the game ended. Final score Ayton 4, Lucknow 2.
