Goiwells celebrate 45th
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth MacDonald and
family have been enjoying a holiday in
Florida.
Merle Rhody visited with Mr. and Mrs.
Dennis Brace and family In London.
Diane Bowley visited with her husband
Mark Bowley at University Hospital,
London.
Mrs. Bowley (Sr.) has been with Diane
Bowley and Nicholas for a while at the
Bowley home, con. 12.
Meg Lane, Bessie Maulden, Jean
Phillips and Peggy Palmer spent a day
with their cousin Madeline Edward in
Goderich.
We are sorry that Arthur Phillips of Fon-
thill has suffered another stroke. We wish
him improved health.
Word was received here of the death of
Mrs. Chester (Freida) Haldenby of
Tisdale, Sask. We extend our sympathy to
her family and relatives. Chester grew up
at Westford.
Ladies from the Presbyterian WMS at-
tended the Presbyterial at Ripley on
Monday.
Last Saturday evening at the Kinloss
Community Centre there was a lovely
social evening and party honouring Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Colwell's 45th wedding an-
niversary. Frank and Ruby kept the
Kinloss store for years and were kind and
obliging to everyone, good store keepers
and good neighbours and now retired and
gratulations on this special occasion.
Mrs. 'Midford Wall went to Bayfield on
Saturday where she attended . a bridal
shower for Eloise Lindsay.

Ripley softball teams
Ripley Minor Softball . has now formed
their teams for 'the 1989season.
Mite Boys have two teams :in the WOAA
League while the .SquirtBoys, Midget Girls,
and Midget Boys will each.have one.
The Squirt ,Girls age ;10,11, or 12 are hop-
ing to compete in a house league system
made ..up of teams from 'Tiverton •and Kin-
cardine. There are still openings for players
on the squirt girls teams.
Unfortunately there will be no Mite "Girls,
Pee Wee Boys or Girls, or Bantam boys or
girls teams this season. Refunds can beob- •
tained at the Huron Township Offices.

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. David
Bakker (nee Connie Lancing) of St.
Catharines on the birth of their baby girl.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ernest and Joey are
pleased to have their baby son home from
the hospital where. he has ben• since his
birth.
A number from here attended the
Lucknow School Band Concert at the
Community Centre on Friday evening.
Everyone did a fine job, which brought
credit to themselves, their school and to
their band leader, Gordon Caley. They all
looked so nice in their new band uniforms.
We wish them a good trip.

Jean Atwell was hostess for the meeting
of the Anglican Church Women at the rec-
tory at Lueknow on Thursday afternoon.
Maureen Collins presided and opened
with thoughts on Mother's Day. Hymns
were sung and prayers followed. May
Boyle read the scripture for Ascension
Kay Thacker read the minutes and the
correspondence.
The spring deanery meeting will be held
at Clinton on June 6. Each member will
take a bag lunch and Rev. D. L. Howlett off
the Bible Society will be the guest speaker.
Mrs. Atwell read a .letter from a Mis-
sionary Hugh Darwood of Chili and a
donation was made towards his work
there.
The roll call was Recollections off our
Mother.
Edna Boyle was the program convenor
and welcomed everyone and had the open-
ing prayer. All joined in singing the

Mother's Day hymn.
Joan Page gave a most interesting talk
on their trip to England and Scotland
where they spent a month last year sight-
seeing. She had a number of pictures
which were passed around for everyone to
see.
Agnes Hodgins thanked Joan and
presented her with a gift.
Other Mother's Day readings were given
by Mrs. Hodgins, Irlma Wall and Maureen
Collins.
Lynda Thacker gave the courtesy
remarks and Rev. David Atwell had the
closing prayer. Grace was sung and
delicious refreshments were served by the
hostess.
