Unit 11
Unit 1 of the Lucknow U.C.W. met March
7 in the library of the public school. Miss
Matt and her grade eight Families Studies
class served a delicious luncheon followed
by Mr. Pike giving a tour of the
classrooms, letting us see education as it is
today.
A table centred with the cross and
white lilies was the setting for our Easter
worship service. Annie Shiells had the call
to worship. Isobel Miller gave the scrip-
ture from Luke. Grace Gibson had the
meditation and prayer.
Lois Walden presented our Bible Women
in an unique way, it being in the form of a
letter to Mary Magdalene.
Ruth Ritchie, our guest sang, "The Robe
of Calvary" accompanying herself of her
autoharp.
An Easter custom and a true story of the
origin of the hot cross bun by Frances E.
Russel was capably told by Lois Walden.
Annie Shiells closed the worship with a
thought for the day. The message of
Easter cannot be written in the past tense.
It is a message for today and the days to
come. It is God's message which must re-
echo through, our lives.
Laura Hare opened the business with e
poem. The roll call was answered with a
verse from the Bible pertaining to New
Life, by eight members.
Isobel Miller gave her treasurer's
report.
As well as the regular offering an offer-
ing for the blanket fund was received.
Grace Gibson gave the scripture reading
and prayer from Thialand as we par-
ticipated in the Least Coin.
Laura Hare reported for the supply and
welfare c * mmittee, that after the March
break we would get together to tie four
quilts.
Unit 2
The March 7 meeting of Unit Two of the
Lueknow United Church Women was open-
ed by Marion McFarlane, with eight
members and one visitor answering the
rollcall with "Signs of New Life", in keep-
ing with the Easter season.
The Least Coin, regular collection and
Blanket Fund were collected and the birth-
day jar passed for Mary Loth and Donelda
Ritchie.
Mrs. McFarlane read Kids under Con-
struction and asked for suggestions to
create more interest for the children of our
church.
Mrs. McFarlane reported on the
Presbyterial Meeting in Port Elgin. The
main topic proved most interesting,
relating building a house $ building your
life, starting with a good foundation.
Edna MacDonald chaired the devotional
part of the meeting opening with a poem.
Mary MacGillivray at the piano provid-
ed accompaniment for the various hymns.
The scripture was read by Noma Camp-
bell followed by a hymn from the trio of
Marion McGillivray, Marion McFarlane
and Noma Campbell.
Ella Hackett read the Meditation,
followed by prayer.

Barbara is doing everything she can to be
recognized and accepted for her abilities.
