There is a growing need in mazy com-
munities,: for special renovations to be
made to private homes to render them
more accessible to people who use
wheelchairs or have other mobility pro-
blems. This' due to the fact that moist
people with disabilities prefer to live and
remain in their own commimities. In the
past, they often had no choice but relocate
to large cities aacl,.nursing homes to fulfill
their needs although this has been slowly
r•hanging_
In order to further this prods of change
the Ontario March of Dimes bas recently
expanded its Assistive Devices Program
to cover special items that will help people
with physical disabilities maintain
themselves in their own homes and con-,
mvmities_ The program now covers ttie
following new items- essential limn
renovations (inrhrriing elevators and
cru glides t up to value of 31810.110,
augmentative commmucation aids, and
environmental controls_
The Ontario March of Dimes Assistive
Devisers Program provides mobility aids
such as weirs and braces that are
necessary for an individual's essential in-
dependence and/or safety. The program is
open to people with physical disabilities
over the age of 19 who are permanent
residents of Ontario and in financial. need.

The November board meeting for
Wingham Voice for Life was held Monday,
Nov. 13 at Eleanor Kuyvenhoven's house.
Rev. John Vaudry opened the meeting
with a reading from 2nd Chronicles

President Jim Rakelaar welcomed all
members A new book written by Aim
Packer, titled "A Matter of Conscience" is
available from Interim. This hook tells
about her husband, Constable David
Packer, and his struggle with the
Metropolitan Toronto Police Force in
regards to his stand on abortion_
