The Lucknow Sentinel, 1988-10-26, Page 17Where has all the money gone
Where has all the money gone? Do the
expenses always seem greater than the in-
come? Do the drawings from your
business run out before the end of the
month? Many families have difficulty
estimating what is needed for family living
costs. This is especially true when family
and business expenses are closely tied
together, as they are on a farm or in a
home-based business.
The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and
Food has recently published a Family
Financial Record Book to help you and
your family with your financial planning.
The most difficult part of financial plan-
ning is knowing what you presently do with
your money. This workbook is designed for

you to record your personal and household
income and expenditures and to examine
them over a period of time. Then you have
valuable information to help you plan
financial goals, whether to cover weekly
living costs, savings, vacation or, perhaps,
some home improvements.
The workbook also helps you track the
changes in your personal and family net
worth and to make realistic decisions
about meeting long term financial goals.
The Family Financial Record Book is
available free of charge from the Rural
Organization Specialist at your local On-
tario Ministry of Agriculture and Food

4-H REPORT
by Terri Lynn Menary
This club met for their second last
meeting on October 17 at the home of
Margaret Bakker.
The group discussed which meats we eat
most and why. Most of the meeting was
about using microwaves for cooking
meats. An example was for ground meats,
you cook on high power, tender roasts you
cook on medium power and less tender you
cook on medium low. For defrosting if
there is plastic wrap on the meat you do
not have to remove it.
The group also discussed the variety of
meats ( organs) such as liver, kidneys,
heart, tongue, brain, sweetbreads and
tripe. A review followed and a crossword
puzzle.
The meeting closed with sampling of
microwaved sweet and sour meatloaf.
