Once again it has been proven that
Lucknow is a good place to conduct a
business. Two weeks ago on October 8, the
Chisholm family celebrated 50 years of
service and this past weekend Mon-
tgomery Motors celebrated 40 years of
business with an open house Friday even-
ing and Saturday.
One more store on the south side of
Campbell Street is empty with Dee Vee's
move across to larger facilities in the
former Whetstone building.
Ross Hamilton of Brandon, Manitoba
visited recently with his mother, Janey
Hamilton and other relatives in the area.
He and his mother also visited Betty
Hamilton in St. Catharines while he was
here.
Tuesday, October 18 was the annual
turkey dinner in the Lucknow United
Church. Mrs. Allan Gibson, convenor,
reports there were over 600 dinners served
including workers, take-outs and those
who were able to enjoy a delicious meal.
Mary Elizabeth, daughter of Mary and
Jim Henderson, visited recently with her
parents and family. She was home for the
wedding of her brother Robert to Christine
Taber, in Kitchener. On her return to
McBride, B.C., she will do a Home Care
Needs Assessment survey for the provin-
cial department of health.
Lucknow Women's Institute was
represented at the Bruce County Women's
Institute Rally at Underwood, October 20,
by Dorothy Brown, Edna Young, Mabel
Whitby, Mary MacGillivray and Lois
Goodhue. There was a total attendance of
159 at the rally.
Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce are seek-
ing the public's assistance in the investiga-
tion of a break, enter and theft, which oc-
curred in Paisley, Ontario.
The Walkerton detachment of the On-
tario Provincial Police reports that during
in hours of darkness on September 4th,
1988, the L.C.B.O. re outlet located on
Queen. Street North, Paisley, Ontario. The
Culprit( s) threw a brick through the front
door window and gained entry to the
building. A quantity of various brands of li-
quor were stolen. ,
Four males had been seen in the area of
the Liquor Store, prior to the break-in be-
ing discovered. The males had been seen
driving around in a late model Crysler Cor-
boda, brown in color with primer paint on
the driver's side. One of the males was
described as having long curly hair. The
culprit(s) made off with approximately
$700 worth of liquor.
The culprits have not been identified as
yet.

We are happy to report that Jack Collin-
son is home after spending a month in Vic-
toria Hospital, London, where he had
surgery.
Mr. and Mrs. Gary Schuit, Carolyn and
Russell have moved into their new home at
720 Havelock Street, the former Olive
Smith proeprty.
Baptismal services were held in
Lucknow United Church, Sunday morning
for Kelsie Jean, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Randy Alton; Davin Craig, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Steven Chamney and Amanda May,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald A.
Ritchie.
Mr. and Mrs. John Orr of Atwood visited
Sunday with Gordon and Bernice
Johnstone. Other recent visitors with the
Johnstone's were Bob and Marion and
Matthew McComb of Castleton and Myrtle
Johnstone of Goderich.
Rhoda MacKenzie spent part of last
week in Sombra, near Wallaceburg, with
Ford and Eunice Cuningham, where she
attended a class on china painting.
Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Lobb of Clinton
visited with Olive Blake October 17 and
brought a set of slides of Ireland as a brith-
day treat. Other visitors this week includ-
ed Mrs. Anne Kilpatrick of Wingham on
Saturday afternoon and Mr. and Mrs. Gor-
don Dickson of Palmerston Sunday after-
noon. Mr. and Mrs. George Milne of
Trowbridge call for a brief visit.

Seminar
The Owen Sound and District, Crime
Prevention Cornthittee is holding a
seminar for Seniors on Thursday,
November 3, 1988 at the Bayshore Com-
munity Centre, Owen Sound.
This seminar will deal with the many
problems faced by seniors in their daily
lives.
We are having guest speakers from the
OPP in Mount Forest to discuss Stranger
Awareness, a speaker from Guelph to
demonstrate Home Security, and a
speaker to discuss how to handle scams
and frauds.
There are several other effective
speakers invited as well as who will share
tips in various other areas.
Although this seminar is aimed at
Seniors primarily, other family members
are welcomed to attend.
The seminar will be from 9:30 a.m. to
3:00 p.m. Lunch will be provided.
