The Lucknow Sentinel, 1988-06-08, Page 24—71 s Page 20—Lucknow Sentinel, Wednesday, June 8, 1988 Thomas Glendenning Stanley Thomas Glendenning Stanley passed away in the Kincardine and District General Hospital on Saturday, May 7, 1988. Born in Huron Township October 5, 1915, Thomas was the first child of the late Milton Stanley and Ellen Kirk. He was a mechanic by trade and worked in a variety of garages in the vicinity. He later bought a farm on which he and his family' resided. On June 30, 1945, he married Edna Farrell who mourns his loss along with their two sons, Richard of Huron Township and David of Peachland B.C.; a daughter, Anne Marie MacInnes; and four grandchildren, Dixon and Dana Stanley and Katherine and Robert Maclnnes. Other family members include three brothers, 'Russell of Kincardine; Norval of Huron Township; and Lawrence of Toronto; and three sisters, Audrey Traher, Helen Smith and Edith Pederson all of London. Thomas Stanley was a member of St. An- drew's United Church, Ripley, and was also a member of the Independant Order of Odd - fellows, Penetangore Lodge 172, J(incardine. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 10 at 2 p.m. at the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Ripley, with Rev. Glen Mac- Pherson officiating. Pallbearers were nephews, Donald, Leonard and Gilburt Far- rell, Larry Traher and Carl and Mark Stanley. Flowerbearers were Kirk Dahmer, James, John and Earl Farrell and Billy and Ryan Sutherland. Internment in Ripley Cemetery. Mrs. Emmeline Zinn The death of Emmeline Zinn of Goderich occurred on Tuesday, May 31st, 1988 at Alexandra and Marine Hospital, Goderich. She was in her 95th year. Born in Goderich Twp. on December 28th, 1893, she was the fourth child of George C. Holland and Anna Lobb and was the last surviving member of a family of nine. Emmeline Holland graduated from London Normal School in 1913 and taught for 9 years in schools in Adelaide Twp., Middlesex County; Goderich Twp. Huron County ( Summerhill) ; and Carrick Twp. Bruce County. On New Year's Day, 1923, she. married Ervin G. Zinn of Carrick Twp. Following their marriage, they operated the General Store at Lanes (Con. 10) , Ashfield Twp. until 1942 when they sold the store and moved to' their farm on Con' 7 Ashfield. OBITUARY The deceased was a faithful member of Hackett's Church ( now Trinity) and taught Sunday School, as well as a Life Member of the U.C.W. For the past 25 years, Mrs. Emmeline Zinn was a member of North St. United Church, Goderich. She has been a resident of Maitland Manor, Goderich since 1982. She is survivied by two sons, Warren and his wife Marian of Lucknow, and Clarke and his wife Donna of London; 11 grand- children and 10 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by 4 brothers and 4 sisters. A largely attended funeral service was conducted from the MacKenzie and Mc- Creath Funeral Chapel, Lucknow on Thursday, June 2nd, 1988 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Robert Ball of North St. United Church, Goderich conducting the service as well as the graveside service in Greenhill Cemetery. Mrs. Donalda Moffat was the organist. The pallbearers were six grandsons: Terry and Paul Zinn, Lucknow; Garry Zinn of Ingersoll; Wayne Zinn of Kit- chener; Blair Zinn, Clinton and Lloyd Zinn, Goderich. Seven great grandchildren were flower bearers: Kimberley and Jef- frey Ferguson, Blyth; Christa, Cara and Cayley Babinsky, ' London; Garrett and Gina Zinn of Ingersoll and grandson Shawn Zinn, London. Mr. Carman Feagan Mr. Carman Feagan, of Goderich, and formerly of Colborne Township, died at Alexandra Marine and General Hospital Saturday, May 28 at the age of 83. Born in Colborne Township, he was the son of the late John Feagan and the former Lucinda Teresa Currey. He farmed in Col- borne Township for many years. From 1950 until his retirement in 1974, he sailed on the Great Lakes. He was also a member of North Street United Church. Surviving are two daughters, Lois (Mrs. Grant Farrish) of Lucknow and Joyce (Mrs. Arnold Stothers) of Nile, and one son Wayne of Toronto. Twelve grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren also survive. Mr: Feagan was predeceased by his wife, the former Mildred Fisher; one son Elwyn; one sister Mrs. Luella Vanstone; and three brothers, George, William and. Howard. The funeral service washeld at the Mc- Callum and Palla Funeral Home Tuesday, May 31 with Rev. Robert Ball of North Street United Church officiating. Flower bearers were Robert Shepherd, Dale Baechler, Stephen Park and Charles Broadfoot. Pallbearers were Bryan Stothers, Gregory Feagan, Glen Feagan, Eric Dren- nan, Keith Elston, and Livio Versolatto. Interment Colborne Cemetery. Pearl Elizabeth Johnstone Pearl Johnstone, the former Pearl Todd, died in University Hospital, London, on May 27, 1988 in her 91st year. Mrs. Johnstone leaves to survive a daughter, Mrs. Norman (Betty) Weitzel of London; son-in-law, Gordon Liston of Toronto; grandchildren, Michael, Larry and Timmothy, and a great grand- daughter, Amanda. She was predeceased by her husband, D.M. (Mac) Johnstone (1982) and her daughter, Helen Liston (1983 ). The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Donald G. McInnes of New St. James Presbyterian Church, from the James A. Harris Funeral Home, London, on May 30. Interment, Greenhill Cemetery, Lucknow. YUILL - Cameron and Alice (Nivins) of Waterloo are delighted to announcethe safe arrival of their first child, Camerra Ashley Lynn, weighing 6 lbs., 14 ozs., born May 5, 1988 at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener. Pro- ud first grandparents are Alex and Beatriuce Nivins, Nile, and eighth time grandparents Clarence and Mildred Yuill, Belgrave. NEUREUTHER - Roy and Mary Ann (nee Miltenburg) are pleased to announce the safe arrival on June I, 1988, of a new son, Joseph Marinus weighing 11 lbs., 5 ozs., in the Sault Ste. Marie Hospital. Joseph is a brother for Brian. Proud grandparents are Ries and Marie Miltenburg, RR7 Lucknow, BIRTHS and Harold and Julie Neureuther of Port Colborne. DeBRUYN - Jake and Wilma (nee Viser) of Acton, Ontario, are proud to annoucne the birth of their daughter, Amber Lynn, on May 28, 1988 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital, weighing 5 lbs. Proud grand- parents are Herman and Cornelia DeBruyn of Wingham and Len and Alice Viser of Fairview, Alberta. Bridal shower for Marilynne A community shower was held at South Kinloss church on Saturday afternoon for the bride-to-be Marilynne MacIntyre. Nan- cy MacIntyre was M.C. for the "backwards shower" as she called it. It started with a dessert. Then Marilynne, with her two sisters Margaret and Norma assisting, opened the gifts. After Marilynne very capably thanked everyone for such lovely gifts, a fashion show followed. It sure was a different fashion which was creative. Everyone had a laugh. The South Kinloss Presbyterian church are celebrating their 132nd anniversary on Sunday with services at 11 am and 7:30 pm. Everyone is welcome to come to hear special music and guest minister. Ruth and Bernard Estabrook of Mississauga are home holidaying with Ruth's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Allan OUTH KINLOSS by Ruth Buchmeier Graham. Denver and Brenda Dickie and children were home for the weekend to visit with Denver's family. Irene Dickie had a girlfriend party on Sunday for the sister of the bride to be, Lorrie of Toronto, who is being married this summer. Jack and Blanche Needham visited last week with friends and relatives in Sarnia area. The community is very happy to say that Marilyn MacIntyre is home from the hospital and recuperating at home.
