The Lucknow Sentinel, 1988-05-18, Page 11We survived the storm Dungannon survived the storm of last week. Damage was reported from homes south of Dungannon and the village itself. A shed, a shed door, many TV towers doubled over, and TV dishes suffered from the very strong wind. Congratulations to Ray Jr. and Shelley Ulch of Dungannon on the birth of their twin boys - Jesse Ray 4 lbs. 11 oz. and Rick Karl 5 lbs. 9 oz. born Tuesday, May 10th. Proud grandparents are Doreen Ulch of Windsor and Renate and Ray Ulch of Dungannon. Wednesday's card party at the Dungan- non Seniors Centre had 13 tables. High man was Nelson Pearson; Low man was Stanley Dennis; High lady was Dorothy MacDougall; while Low lady was Aileen Trommer. Sympathy is extended to the families of Eileen McGee who passed away at Clinton Hospital on Monday, May 9th. Rev. Peter Baldwin conducted funeral service at Mc- Callum and Palla Funeral Home, Goderich on Thursday, May 12th. Dungannon Agricultural society held their Semi Annual Flea Market on Satur- day, May 14th. Co-ordinator, Sandra D'Aoust was pleased with the turn out of DUNGANNQN 8y Bonnie Hodges both vendors and buyers. Tables were set up in the hall and also outside the hall. A lunch booth was run by C.G.I.T. of Dungannon, selling delicious hot dogs, donuts, coffee, lemonade. We are looking forward to the next flea market in the fall, Oct. 15th. Visitors on the weekend with Colleen and Irvine Eedy were daughter Martha and her husband Peter Stewart. Mrs. Karen Roberts conducted Sunday morning service at Dungannon United Church in the absence of Rev. Robert Roberts who is attending Conference in London. Also visiting at the United Church Manse with the Roberts family is Karen's mother, Mrs. Vivian Earl from Chicago, Illinois. Happy to report that Tinie Logtenberg has returned to her home from Alexandra Marine and General Hospital, Goderich. Willing Workers are holding a Pot Luck supper on Wednesday evening, May 18th at 7 p.m. in the church basement. Sisters Stacey and Tanya Manoryk, of Trowbridge, (above) studied the jewellery and bubble bath at the Dungannon Agricultural Society's Flea Market held over the weekend while Laura and Mark Weir of RR2 Lucknow were on hand to in- spect the Bug Houses. Herb Wilkins' Bug Houses work like this - you put the wee houses in your plants and at night the bugs crawl into the houses to sleep. All you have to do to rid your plants of bugs is lock the front door of the house once they're inside. Good story Herb,^we can't wait to try it. As you can see, there was certainly something for everyone at the Flea Market. Lucknow Junior W.I. The Lucknow Junior Women's Institute held their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday last week in the basement of the Town Hall. Deanna Reavie reported to the group that she had given the video "Feeling Yes, Feeling No" to the Lucknow Library. This video was purchased by the group and it was viewed first by some members. Money was collected from members for the play in Blyth which will be seen this summer. The play chosen was Cookie Wars playing August 2. It was also decided to hold a bake sale in conjunction with the co-op yard sale in the summer. The South Bruce District Annual Meeting of the Women's Institutes was held May 17 in Ripley. Cecilia Mittenburg agreed to write a report of the past year's activities for presentation. A couple of the members reported on their day at the Junior Institute Area Spr- ing Meeting which was held in Flesherton. For the upcoming June meeting, members will be enjoying a tour of CKNX Radio and TV in Wingham. Jonathon Nelson and Chris Colwell were on hand to tell members about their recent trip to the Scout Jamboree in Australia. The boys had slides to show as well as a number of souvenirs which members en- joyed examining. Lunch ended the meeting. Lucknow Sentinel, Wednesday, May 18, 1988—Page 11 We need your support.
