Guests came from far and wide to
celebrate with South Kinloss W.M.S. its
100th Anniversary, May 4th at 7:30 p.m.
Over 100 people attended this wondrous
celebration held at the church. Guest
societies included Ashfield, Kinlough,
Lucknow and Ripleys' Afternoon and
Evening groups, Trinity, Whitechurch and
Wingham.
Honoured guests included Margaret
MacDonald, Betty Morrison, Mary and
Catherine Campbell, Jean MacLeod, Jen-
nie Porteous, Anita Sparks and Mrs. Grace

l✓, , a Centennial hymn, President
Mrs. L., onard Clarke welcomed all and
gave a Bible reading. Scripture was heard
from Mrs. Roely de Boer. Mrs. Reverend
Allison Ramsay gave the Devotions with
Mrs. Donald Maclntyre closing with
prayer.
Mrs. Nancy Maclntyre gave the in-
troduction to Mrs. Olive Needham's
historical skit.
Following a short amount of business,
the offering was taken up by ushers, Mrs.
Herb Buckton and Mrs. Ray Buchmeir.
Mrs. Leonard Clarke gave the offertory
prayer.
A trio of song was heard from Mrs.
Bruce Colwell. Mrs. Don Bell and Mrs.
Jack Forrester entitled "A Hundred Years
of Blessings".
Mrs. Ira Dickie introduced our guest
speaker Mrs. Evan Keith, President of the
Maitland Presbyterial. Margaret's theme
was "Catch the Vision Again". Just as the
women of our past arose to val.' is needs
so must we anticipate and preps For to-
day's issues. We must narticina sten
worldwide, show ,ene ,ity, , sit,
give of ourselves, support the e� of
women and be responsible to G. .lod
makes the difference m our lives. She left
us with the thought, "What is our vision for
our children of the future?"
There was a special presentation of a
Life Membership to Mrs. Harry Lavis by
Mrs. Evan Keith. Mrs. Leonard Clarke
gave a reading on love from 1st Corin-
thians. Mrs. Harry Lavis joined the South
Kinloss W.M.S. in 1933 as Miss Mary
Campbell and held a multitude of positions
over the years.
In 1922, our eldest member joined the
W.M.S. Mrs. Jean Hughes at 95 years of
age, was present to cut the beautiful cake
decorated by Mrs. Leonard Maclnnis.
Congratulations were heard from Mrs.
Margaret Arbuckle from the Maitland
Presbyterial. Roll call was taken by Mrs.
William Dickie and greetings were read
from people unable to attend. The con-
gregation had donated some lovely bou-
quets for the church front.
The conclusion of this entertaining pro-'
gram was heard in song and prayer.
Reverend Allison Ramsay was on hand to
say Grace before a bountiful lunch was
served.
Bridal shower for Judy
The Pentecostal fellowship room prettily
decorated was a nice setting for the bridal
shower for Miss Judy Storey on Monday.
Diane Jones was chairperson and called on
Mrs. Christensen who extended a welcome
to' all and opened with a lovely prayer for
all present along with a special blessing
upon the Judy and Terry.
Each one was asked to introduce
themselves. Shirley Cruse conducted a
contest on vegetables and fruits. May
Boyle read a suitable poem, "A loving
Father". The bridge and her attendants
Bernice Courtney and Marcia Burt took
their places while Connie Lanting and the
Junior girls brought the gifts.
Mrs. Christensen asked the blessing and
a time of chit-chat was enjoyed during the
luncheon time and some went to the Burt
home where Bill entertained the men.
Judy spent the night. with Pastor and
Mrs. M. Christensen.
On Tuesday evening ladies from all the
village churches were guests of the Bervie
U.C.W. for their Thankoffering. Brenda
Mason was the guest speaker. A nice ser-
vice was also enjoyed and a bountiful
lunch and time of fellowship in the church
Sunday School room followed.
We are so sorry that Mrs. (Ezra) Lula
Stanley formerly of here had a fall at her
home on Monday breaking her hip. She.
was able to summon help by phone and
taken by ambulance to Wingham Hospital
and on to Stratford Hospital, where she
underwent surgery for a hip replacement.
We send our best wishes Lula.
Tom McDonald had the misfortune on
Monday while using his little chain saw to
catch the end of his finger. He had medical
attention and hopefully it will begin its
healing process.
Mrs. David House, Justin and Dannielle
of Ajax visited with Mrs. Agnes Hodgins.
Mrs. Agnes Hodgins was hostess for the
Anglican Church -ladies at her home on
Thursday. The president, Mrs. Ray Col-
lins, extended a welcome and began with a
suitable reading. Mrs. David Haldenby
read the Scripture. Each member
answered the roll call with a scripture
reading or Verse on our Lord's Ascension
as this was Ascension Day and also our
church known ag'Church of the Ascension.
The hymn ` esus out Hope" was sung
followed by prayer. Mrs. Ronald Thacker
read the minutes. Rev. Merelyn Letson,
who was marking her 5th celebration of
her ordination had a quiet Communion
Service with Thanks to God and a blessing
on each member, and in keeping with our
Lord's Ascension. Scriptures were read by
Mrs. Roy Collins and Mrs. Midford Wall.

sion day thought and prayer. Mary
Haldenby gave the remarks and after Rev.
Merelyn closed with prayer, she told us of
being with her son a few days ago and she
said "Oh Andrew I love you so much and
he said `Mother I love you too, but I don't
tell you nearly as often as I should."
The Grace was sung and delicious
refreshments were served and all felt
spiritually refreshed from our ascension
day together in Christian fellowship.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Fullerton of In-
verhuron visited on Tuesday with Mrs: F.
Moulden.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. David
Bakker (Connie Lanting) who were mar-
ried at the Pentecostal Church here on
Saturday May 14th.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Haldenby of Guelph
were here at his parents home on . the
weekend and also visited with Will and
Margaret at Penecost Manor Lucknow.
