Two members of our parish community
departed for Haiti on Tuesday May 3rd
along with three other people. Clarice
Dalton and Elsie Dykstra, as well as the
other members of the party, are to spend
16 days working among the poor in ,Haiti
along with Mia Dalton who has been there
since mid-February.
One of their priorities is to try and locate
families here in Canada who would be will-
ing to open their hearts and homes in adop-
tion to some of the many babies and
children who are orphaned daily in Haiti.

The Christian community of St. Joseph's
welcomes a new member, Rachel Colleen,
who recently received the Sacrament of
Baptism. Congratulations to parents Art
and Jackie Simpson and welcome to their
infant daughter.
C.W.L. ladies paid their regular monthly
visit to the residents of Maitland Manor on
Wednesday, April 27th.
The new Catholic Women's League ex-
ecutive was officialIy installed in a
beautiful ceremony during the Saturday
evening mass on April 23rd. During their
regular monthly meeting held on Monday,
May 2nd the responsibilities and impor-
tance of the various convenorships were
discussed.
Final preparations were also made for
the big Annual Parish Garage Sale to be
held on the long holiday weekend, Saturn
day May 21st. Anyone who wishes to
donate anything for the sale is more than
welcome to do so and leave any items in
the church hall or call Father Ed. Be sure
to plan to come. The doors open at 10:00
am.
Roses for Life were sold after the
masses on Saturday evening and Sunday
morning May 7th and 8th by the Knights of
Columbus. The monies raised go to the
Pro -Life cause.
A capacity crowd filled the Lucknow
Agricultural Hall on Friday evening May
6th for the benefit dance for Wilfred and

Marion Austin who had recently lost their
home and all their possessions by fire.
A birthday party in honour of seniors of
the community will be held in the Parish
Hall, Thursday May 12th from 2:00 to 4:00
pm. Please 'come out and help make this a
joyous occasion for our seniors.
President Denise Dalton of the C.W.L.
attended the two day Diocesan Convention
held in Sarnia May 3rd and 4th while
Shirley Martin, Laurie Dalton and
Virginia Stright went down for the day on
the 4th,
The Knights of Columbus held an execu-
tive meeting on Tuesday evening May 10th
in the Parish Hall.
Congratulations to Phil Antonio and his
Grade 7/8 Girls Basketball team who won
the Zone Basketball Tournament at St.
Mary's in Goderich on April 27th and the
following day finished second in the Huron -
Perth finals.
The school children's First Friday Mass
was this month hosted by Mrs. Barb
Eedy's Grade 1/2 class who are presently
preparing for the reception of the First Ho-
ly Communion on June 12th.
The Grade 7/8 class along with Grade
7/8 students from St. Mary's in Goderich
attended an all day Retreat at the Resur-
rectionist Camp on Monday, May 9th in
preparation for receiving the Sacrament
of Confirmation at St. Peter's in Goderich
on Tuesday evening May 17th.
The school playground recently received
a. face lift with a truckload of fill for plac-
ing around the playground equipment.
Father Ed made his weekly visit to each
of the classrooms on Wednesday.
The girls' basketball team from St. Joseph's School in Kingsbridge turned in an ex-
ceptional season of play this year which took them to second spot overall In the Huron -
Perth Separate School Basketball Tourney held recently. In the four games the girls
played during the tourney they lost only to St. Mikes' of Stratford, and then only by
three points. With the banner safely in place at the school, the girls and their coach
took a moment from their studies•to pose for the Sentinel camera. With top point get-
ter Amy Olson under the basket showing her winning form, and coach Mr. Antonio
looking on, the team consists of, left to right, Joy Foran, Jane Brophy, Rachel Brophy,
