Motored to city of Montreal
Pastor and Mrs. M. Christensen Motored
on Tuesday to'visit with Mr. and Mrs. Blair
Christensen and family at Montreal and
brought the Pastor's mother home here for
a visit at the Manse.
Mr. and Mrs. Chester Robb, Mr. and
Mrs. Glen Stinson (Lois Robb) Gary and
Susan of Hamilton were here with Mrs.
Marjorie Robb and attended Cliff's funeral
on Monday. The H.W.I. served
refreshments at the Holyrood Hall after
the funeral.
Mrs. Bill Burt and Mrs. Christensen went
to Milton on Monday for a bridal shower
for Miss Judy Storey.
Visitor's with Edna and May Boyle were
Rev. and Mrs. George Garratt of Kincar-
dine, Mr. and Mrs. Ellison Hodgins of
Kinloss, Mrs. Ellerood Elliott and Mrs.
Lloyd Johnston of Concession 8.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Shaw of Stayner
visited on Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. "Bill
Burt and Terry.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Burt moved on Satur-
day to their new home on Albert Street in
Kincardine. We regret losing Bill and Ber-
nice from the Base Line where they were
good neighbours and friends. Happy
Retirement Folks.
A goodly number enjoyed the Lucknow
Band concert at the Community Centre on
Friday evening. We are poud of these
OGS meets
in Durham
On Saturday, April 23rd, 1988, the An-
nual Meeting and Workshop of the Bruce
and Grey Branch, Ontario Genealogical
Society, was held at the Durham Legion.
This was combined with a meeting for
O.G.S. Region III comprised of Huron
County, Perth County, Waterloo -
Wellington and Bruce and Grey Branches.
A wealth of material in the form of
cemetery, census and marriage records,
surname collection and publications from
many sources was on display. Much of this
was for sale to be a permanent personal
research aid.
Mrs. Gwen Harrison, secretary of Bruce
and Grey Branch and a director of the
Bruce County Museum at Southamptom,
spoke on the holdings at the Bruce County
Archives. She gave a very comprehensive
report on the vast amount of information
available there and noted that finding aids
and readers are excellent. She also com-
mended the Museum .staff, in particular
Mrs. Vicki Carter, Reistrar and Acting
Archivist, for their willingness to assist
researchers in any way they can.
The regional meeting was chaired by
Region III Director, Mrs. Alison Lobb.
This meeting centered around changes in
membership structure proposed by Direc-
tors of O.G.S., what O.G.S. and the Bran-
ches require of each other, and how better
communication between the parties can be
achieved.
Keynote speaker of the afternoon session
was Mrs. Bessie Diebel from the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She is in
charge of their Family History Center in
Kitchener and outlined what is available
there and what films and other materials
can be requisitioned from the main Mor-
mon library in Salt Lake City. She also
showed a film on how to use the center and
its library of information in genealogical
research.
The final business of the "day was the
Bruce and Grey Branch Annual Meeting.
Year-end reports were given by the
Treasurer, Editor of the Newsletter, and
the various convenors. New standing rules
for the Branch were presented but decision
was reached to table this report until the
next annual meeting.
Mr. Clay Schwegler read the
Nominating Committee's proposed slate of
officers. As there were no nominations
from the floor, Mrs. Lobb accepted the
report of the committee and declared the
persons named as official officers of the
Branch for 1988. Mr. Ken Young of Owen
Sound is the new chairman.

Mrs. Frank Maulden returned home on
Wednesday after visiting at Fonthill with
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Phillips.
Two car -loads of Holyrood Women's In-
stitute member's toured the Agri -Park on
Thursday afternoon following a dessert -
12.30 p.m. luncheon at the hall. Some love-
ly tomatoes vent home to members who
weren't able to attend and Thanks girls.
They were delicious.
Allison Elaine Babineau, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Babineau was
dedicated at the morning service at the
Pentecostal Church and in the evening
Diane Jones and daughter Christine Jen-
nifer and Jaime were baptised.
Mrs. Vivian Parkinson of London spent the
week -end here with pastor and Mrs. M.
Christensen and Mrs. Christensen (Sr.).
At the Presbyterian service on Sunday
morning, Jeffrey Van de Klippe, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Henry Van de Klippe and
Michael Husk. son of Mr. and Mrs. Eddie
Husk were baptized.
Ladies from the Presbyterian W.M.S. at-
tended the Presbyterial at Molesworth on
Monday.
