The Girls Basketball Team at the Lucknow Central Public School recently captured
the Runner -Up title in county competition after a season of hard work and effort.
Members of this winning team include, back row, left to right: Lisa MacDonald, Jill

The beach

There I was standing on the shore with
water flowing between my toes.
The feel of that warm sand on my feet.
Shells and pebbles were scattered along
the shore.
The look of that beautiful sunset gently set-
ting over the lake.
The sound of the sea gulls up in the air.
Several sailboats moved gracefully along
.the horizon.
Sitting on a piece of drift -wood, I watched
the waves ripple in.
Some children near by talked and laughed
as they built sandcastles.
A couple walked hand in hand along the
waters edge.
A large dog trotted along beside them.
As darkness fell the sailboats came closer
and closer to shore.
The children gathered up their belongings
and started home.
I knew it was time to leave.
But I wanted to stay just a little longer.
I daydreamed of floating lazily on the
water with not a care in the world.
As I walked homeward I thought to myself
"What a perfect way to end the day!"
