Pot luck supper held for Skating Club
The Ripley Huron Skating Club Annual
meeting and pot luck supper will be held at 6
p.m. next Monday April 11/88 at the Ripley
Huron Complex.
Past weeks of this winter have been great
for watching the skating on television - both
figure and speed skating. The first one was
the Figure Skating in the Olyr pics at
Calgary in Canada, then the World Cham-
pions at Budapest in Hungary, then speed
skating (was it in Russia) and finally just
this past Sunday evening it was the finals for
the Figure Skating back in Budapest. So
come out to Ripley next Tuesday 11, for the
Ripley Club.
Spends time in hospital
Last Wednesday March 30 George
McLean was moved into Room 105 at the
Kincardine Hospital. He had been on the
heart monitor before that. George says
thanks for the cards, visits and best wishes
sent by many friends. While George is a pa-
tient in the hospital his nieces Betty Jean
and Debbie are taking care of the store for
him.
Home after surgery
Ripley folks are glad to see that Norm
Barnard was able toreturn home last week
from Owen Sound after recent surgery
there. Friends wish him continued
recovery.

Houses are numbered
Despite the drizzling ram this Monday
morning, April 4, 1988 members of the
Ripley and District Lions Club with Presi-
dent Grant McDonald are out numbering
the houses in Ripley. They started at the
southwest or Cemetery road corner, Park
and Gladstone streets.
Mrs. Barbara McDonald wanted me to
make it clear that the numbering of the
Ripley homes was a Kinsmen project
belonging to past president Bill Robinson.
Also for her husband president Grant
McDonald she had this item:

tended to all concerned. Fuller accounts will

Bruce Presbyterial
Annual Meeting held
St. Paul's United Church, Walkerton,
was the setting for the Bruce Presbyterial
United Church Women's Annual Meeting
held Monday, March 7, 1988. Mrs.
Margaret Rapp, Walkerton, President of
the local U.C.W. extended a warm
• welcome to the ladies and introduced
representatives from the sister churches.
The sanctuary of the church was beautiful-
ly decorated with banks of yellow and
white mums.
Two hundred members and guests were
in attendance. Theme for the day was
"Reaching Out In Response".
Presbyterial President, Jessie Clark, Kin-
cardine, opened the meeting reminding
the group Of the past year's 25th anniver-
sary and the opportunities that await the
ladies in the future.
Vi Chambers and Dorothy Loucks, Zion
Amabel, Sadie Fenton of Allenford, con-
ducted the opening worship service. Anne
Morley, Wiarton, introduced Margaret
Osborne, President Hamilton Conference
U.C.W., along with other representatives

that it is our responsibility to reach out
with love and compassion in response to
the needs of others. (Luke 10: .,5-37)
Deborah Marshall, from the National
Division of Mission in Canada, Resource
Staff Person for Women's Work was guest
speaker. She was, introduced by Laura
Williams. Deborah chose as her text Luke
13: 10-17 which tells of a "crippled woman
healed on the Sabbath". She had us think
of the "crippled women" in society
throughout the world and how each of us
can reach out in response to their needs.
Mary Worthington thanked Deborah for
addressing the group and presented her
with a gift.
