Lucknow Novice
Game three of a five game series with
Ripley was played in Lucknow last week
and with our local boys up by two games in
the series, they were able to wrap it up
following this tough contest.
Curt Humphrey handled the netminding
duties alone as Graeme Hunter was home
ill. Ed Courtney was called into action for
this game as well.
From the opening face-off, the Ripley
squad came out flying but they met a
determined Lucknow team looking to wrap
the series at home.
It was an exciting game of end to end ac-
tion with both goalies making some big
saves for their team.
Lucknow got on the scoreboard mid -way
through the second period when Stuart
Rintoul found the mark.
The third period brought more and more
exciting rushes on both nets but the
goaltenders held their ground. When the
final buzzer sounded, Lucknow won the
game and the series on the good end of a 1-
0 score.
This gives the Lucknow Novices the
WOAA B Division Championship. Con-
gratulations to the team whohave played
steady hockey all season, and to coaches
Gerry and Steve who persisted with their
duties to help the club develop into the win-
ners they are.

team went ahead by two when Stuart Rin-
toul swooped in and bulged the mesh.
Hot goaltending from Curt and Graeme
brought the club away with a shut -out as

final score was Lucknow 2, Alma -Logan 0.
Game three for the consolation cham-
pionship was palyed against Brussles. This
was the same team that Lucknow beaten
in a recent exhibition game so spirits were
high.
Despite some°fine play making from the
Lucknow team, they were unable to score
against Brussels. The puck was on the
doorstep time and time again, but was
never over the red line. Brussles took the
consolation title following a 2 - 0 win.
Again, the goaltending was terrific at
both ends of the rink. Lucknow played the
game short three regular players but were
aided in the tourney by Ed Courtney and
Craig Moffat.

Before the period ended, the Lancers got'
on the board when Kevin DeJong netted
their first. Steve MacPherson tied the
score at two in the second period and Art
Clark put the Lancers ahead to stay at the
halfway point of the game.
Lucknow's insurance goals came from
also from the sticks of DeJong and Mac-

trick for each of the scorers.

Lancer built up a 3 - 0 lead and then hung
on for a 6 - 4 win. Steve Simpson led the
scoring with three goals while Grant

Carl Stanley made it 5 - 2 early in the
