Kinloss Kairshea W.I.
Mrs. Lloyd MacDougall was hostess for
the February -meeting of the Kinloss Kair-
shea Women's Institute which was the
Citizenship and Legislation meeting of the
year. The President Mrs. William Halden-
by chaired the meeting and opened with
the Ode and Mary Stewart Collect, follow-
ed with the reading of Psalm 23 by Mrs.
Hank Hartemink.
The minutes of the previous meeting
were read by the Secretary Mrs. Murray
Keith - followed with the business. Mrs.
Gordon Wall reported on Valentine gifts
taken to' two patientsin the Kairshea
room at Wingham Hospital.
Mrs. Leonard Maclnnes reported on the
Valentine party hosted by Kairshea W.I. at
Pinecrest Manor.
The Kairshea Women's Institute will
host the District Directors meeting on
March 22 at 12:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs.
Clarence Ritchie in Lucknow at 1:00 p.m.
Member was voted for the Loaf of Bread.
The District President Mrs. Largaret
Maclnnes Teeswater brought greetings
from the District.
Congratulations to our Kinloss girls with
their public speaking that was held at the
Legion on Friday evening.
In the senior class first prize went to
Tanya Sutherland speaking on "Grey Ox".
Second prize went to Marita MacDougall
who spoke on"Superstitions". In the
Junior class second prize went to Aleshia
Moffat who spoke on "Mirrors".
We also have very talented actors and.
musicians in our area. On Saturday night
at the "Family Fun Night"' that was held
at the Community Centre the second con-
cession of Kinloss put on an interesting skit
and the fourth concession also put on an
entertaining comical act.
Connie Eadie, with . her little Scottish
dancers, danced up a show. Chad and
Aleshia Moffat both played a piano solo
and duet and Kristen O'Neil played a piano
solo. Keep up the good work everyone -
we'll be watching for you next year again.
The Lucknow "Tykes" played hockey
against Teeswater on Saturday night with
an 8-8 score. Ian Moffat got 3 goals,
Jonathon MacKinnon got 1 goal. These are
Mrs. Roy Finlayson introduced the guest
speaker, Mr. Roy Pennington, Bruce
County Warden, speaking on citizenship.
Mr. Pennington said he felt honoured to
speak to a group of ladies of the Women's
Institute. He said citizenship starts when
we are all very young by getting involved
in 4-H, Sunday School, Guides, cubs, etc.
Thanks to parents - citizenship is a respon-
sible person who serves the community to
make the world and community a better
place to live.
The Women's Institute show good
citizenship and he hoped the organization
will be alive for years to come. He told of
administration of Bruce County at
Municipal and County level. Bruce County
has a population of 58,000 with a County
Budget of $11,437,000.
. Mr. Pennington was thanked by Mrs.
Cliff Roulston and presented with a gift.
Following the singing of 0 Canada and
the Institute Grace the hostess and Direc-
tors Mrs. Vera Schmidt and Mrs. Brian
Doelman served lunch.

scored goals. Good luck boys and keep up
the good work.
The Ripley "No Stars" played a tour-
nament in Goderich last week and came
home with the "Old Deckhand Hockey
Tournament" runner up trophy. Next
week they go to Montreal to "let loose"
again. Good luck boys.
The community wishes Margaret Colyer
. a speedy recovery at Wingham Hospital so
she can get back home.
Jennie Porteous, Olive Needham and
Nancy Maclntyre went up to Bruce Haven
in Walkerton on Sunday to visit with Mr.
and Mrs. Stewart Needham and John
Henderson.

Cornelius E. Hogan
Mr. Cornelius Hogan of Lucknow died in
Wingham and District Hospital on
February 22, 1988, in his 78th year.
A retired farmer, formerly of Ashfield
Township, he was a member of St.
Joseph's Roman Catholic Church,
Kingsbridge.
Mr. Hogan was born on November 16,
1910 .to the late Patrick Hogan and
Margaret Foran.
On June 30, 1942 he married.the former
Vivian Courtney in St. Joseph's Church,
Kingsbridge.
Mr. Hogan is survived by his wife Vi-
vian; son Kerry and his wife Diane of
Glencoe; daughter Fay and her husband
Ken Telfer of St. Mary's and a dear aunt,
Mary E. Hogan of Lucknow.
Two grandchildren, Todd and Chad
Hogan of Glencoe, also survive.
Mr. Hogan rested at the MacKenzie and
McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow. The
funeral service was conducted on
February 24, by Father Ed Dentinger in
St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church,
Lucknow. — ��-
Organist was Doug Stever.
Pallbearers were Gary Courtney, Blyth;
Norman Hamilton, Goderich; Joe Austin,
Michael Courtney, Paul Hogan and Jim
Sinnett all of Ashfield Township.
Spring burial in Kingsbridge Cemetery.
ANNA ELIZABETH IRWIN
Anna Elizabeth Irwin of Ripley Street,
Ripley, passed away at her residence on
Wednesday, February 24, 1988.
Born in Huron Township on August 1, 1915,
she was the daughter of the late John
Ferguson and Idella Potter. She married the
late Leonard Irwin of Huron Township who
predeceased her in 1981.
She is survived by one daughter Carol and
husband John Halliday of Owen Sound and
by five sons Ronald and wife Lois of Ripley,
Ernest and wife Vivian of Burlington, Ken
and wife Teresa of Waterdown, Dennis and
wife Gerrie of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia,
Larry and wife Marianne of Ripley and Bon-
in -law Robert Irwin of Lucknow.
OBITUARIES
She is also survived by two sisters Wilda
(Mrs. Wilmer MacKay) and Nan (Mrs. Roy
Geddes) both of Kincardine and two
brothers John and Lester Ferguson, both of
Huron Township.
She was predeceased by one daughter
Elaine (Mrs. Robert Irwin) of Lucknow m
4987, one grandson Michael Irwin, one
brother and one sister.
She was a member of St. Andrew's United
Church in Ripley and the Bruce Chapter 253
Order of the Eastern Star.
The Eastern Star held a memorial service
Friday evening February 26 at 8 p.m. at the
funeral home.
The funeral was held on Saturday,
February 27 at 12 noon at the MacKenzie Mc-
Creath Funeral Home in Ripley with Rev.
Glen Macpherson officiating.
Interment m Ripley Cemetery.

February 20,1988 in Wingham and District
Hospital. Suart who weighed 7 lbs. 11 oz. is
