Jason Laidlaw was celebrating a birthday. World Day of Prayer service will be held in Whitechurch United Church on Friday, March 4, 2 p.m. Rev. Mr. John Neilson will be special speaker. All ladies in the com- munity are invited to attend. Mrs. Don Ross attended the workshop on Organists and Choir Directors on Saturday at the Anglican Church in Listowel. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Simpson spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Mari Sakli and family of Windsor. Chalmers WMS Chalmers W.M.S. Whitechurch held its February meeting Wed. Feb. 17 at the home of Mrs. Walter Elliott. The leaders Mrs. Neil Rintoul and Mrs. Norma Rintoul were in charge of the meeting. Mrs. Neil Rintoul gave the call to wor- ship, while Mrs. Neil Rintoul read the scripture and gave the meditation, follow- ed with prayer. Mrs. Hugh Simpson, Mrs. Wallace Milligan read poems. Mrs. Norma Rintoul gave the topic called `prayer'. The president, Mrs. Walter Elliott then presided for the business portion of the meeting. Roll call was answered by 12 with a verse containing the word "love". Corresondence was read, thank you notes were read, and Mrs. John Neilson thanked the ladies for get well wishes when she was ill. Mrs. Neil Rintoul closed the meeting with prayer. The ladies aid meeting followed with no new business to discuss. Rev. John Neilson asked the blessing and Mrs. Elliott served refreshments. Don and Tiny visited with relatives in Guelph on Saturday and also at- tended the funeral of their cousin Mrs. Jessie Dunkie. Tobi Kay Farrell visited this weekend with her aunt and uncle Paul and Nancy Greenwood and family. Happy holidays to Kay Collins and Mar= jorie Thompson who left Sunday morning for two weeks in Florida. Fran Farrell and Reine Arnold spent 'Fri - PURPLE ROVE day in London. Jim and Fran Farrell and family visited on Sunday evening with Fran's father Derk Logtenberg. Janet Farrell spent last week, with Suan and Peter Roberts of Denfield. Kathy and Jared Martin of Kitchener spent this weekend with Jack and Janet Farrell. . Congratulations to Bob Reid of Pinecrest who celebrated his 90th birthday on Sunday. Unfortunate accident By May Boyle Allan Rhody had an unfortunate acci- dent on Wednesday while at work. During loading operations he had his leg broken in two places as well as his foot. He was rush- ed to Wingham Hospital and later to Strat- ford Hospital. He is now in Wingham and our well wishes are with you Allan. Mr. and Mrs. William MacPherson visited with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Scott at Ripley. Mrs. Louise Schneller of Wingham visited on Tuesday with Edna and May Boyle. Mr. and Mrs. Tom McDonald of here and Mrs. Essie Bloomfield of Paisley, visited Saturday at Bruce Lea Haven, Walkerton to celebrate the 98th birthday of their father, Mr. Joseph Guest. Sotne from here attended the Service of Christian Unity and the fellowship hour at St, Peter's Church, Lucknow on Sunday evening when the clergy of all denomina- tions took part. Members of the various congregations assisted with the singing and Rev. Merelyn Letson gave the Sermon. It was a most inspiring service.
