Lucknow Pee Wee As
The Lucknow Pee Wee As have won the
W.O.A.A. Championship defeating Paisley
3 games to ° none. The first game was
Lucknow all the way with a a score of 9-1.
The first goal came from Chris Steven-
son 30 seconds after he stepped out of the
penalty box. Assists went to Matt Sproul
and Matt Drennan. •
Stevenson put the second goal past
Paisley's goaltender from the face off cir-
cle after taking a pass from Brad Rhody
assisted by Donnie Cuillerier. Matt Dren-
nan put the third in while on his knees and
was helped out by Sproul and Clint
Murray.
Chris Stevenson stuck the fourth under
the goalie's pads assisted by Steve Porter
and Justin Murray.
This ended the first period 4-0 for
Lucknow, with Stevenson starting the se-
cond on a pass from Justin Murray. Rob
Crich put a dazzling shot in behind
Paisley's goalie as he aimed for the right
top corner, while standing on the blue line.
This goal was helped out by Brad Rhody
and Chris Stevenson.
Darryl Gibson took a pass from Vince
Sticklend, circled back to the blue line and
cruised in for the seventh. Chris Stevenson
scored once more for a 6 point night
assisted by Steve Porter and goalie Adam
Skillen, and finally, Chris Humphrey
assisted by Vince Sticklend and Steve
Porter for the ninth.
Paisley only managed one goal with 3
minutes left in the third. Lucknow only had
3 players on the ice when this goal occur-
red, or it might have been a shutout night.
In the second game, Paisley netted 5
goals but Lucknow set them on their heels,
with a total of 13.
Vince Sticklend opened the scoring for
Lucknow unassisted, while giving a,check
to a Paisley player along the boards.
Justin Murray showed great tenacity
when he scored the second assisted by
Chris Stevenson and Terry Stanley.
Stevenson put his own goal away after a
beautiful set up by Brad Rhody and Terry
Stanley.
Chris Humphrev picked up the puck
from Vince Sticklend and put the fourth on
the score sheet. Clint Murray tipped in the
next goal assisted by Darryl Gibson and
Matt Sproul and with a lot of hard work in
front of the net, Chris Humphrey opened
the second period scoring assisted by War-
ren Andrew and Vince Sticklend.
Paisley finally managed one goal but
Justin Murray put a "razzle dazzler" past
Paisley's net minder assisted by Brad
Rhody and Chris Stevenson. Murray was
hot as he backhanded the 8th into the net 28
seconds later. He was assisted by Rhody
and Stevenson on that one also.
Paisley tried again but Lucknow was so
fired up nothing could stop them from get-
ting two more goals. Stevenson pulled the
goalie out of position, and netted the ninth
unassisted.
Justin Murray started the third period
scoring by putting in a rebound from Chris
Stevenson. Matt Sproul netted the llth
goal after Darryl Gibson popped the puck
over to Matt Drennan who put in onto
Sproul's stick.
Justin Murray had no trouble putting the
next two in the net for a double hat trick
assisted by Chris Stevenson, Brad Rhody
and Terry Stanley.
Paisley sunk in two more goals but it
was too late for them.
Paisley put up quite a tussle in the third
and Lucknow was wondering what was
happening to them. Was this the same
team they had beat so badly in the first two
games? This time Paisley opened the scor-
ing and held Lucknow scoreless until the
1:47 mark of the first when Donnie
Cuillerier blew one over the shoulder of
Paisley's netminder, assisted by Chris
Stevenson and Rob Crich, and with 4
seconds left Chris Stevenson hit the inside
corner unassisted, making it 2-1 for
Lucknow.
Paisley tied the game early in the se-
cond, but Lucknow got caught 'in front of
their own net when goalie Adam Skillen
lost sight of the puck and one of the
defensemen smothered the puck with his
gloves. This allowed Paisley a penalty shot
but Adam Skillen was dauntless as he stop-
ped the shot.
This fired up Lucknow long enough for
Justin Murray to put the third in the net
assisted by Chris Stevenson and Steve
Porter. Paisley came back but so did Brad
Rhody as he netted two more goals for
Lucknow assisted by Justin Murray, Chris
Stevenson and Steve Porter.
Paisley ended the second period with a
goal at 2:29 making it a 5-4 game. Vince
Sticklend scored the sixth and winn-
ing goal from the boards while being
checked, when the puck hit the back of the
goalie's skates and bounced in. The goal
was assisted by Darryl Gibson and stood
good for the rest of the period with Paisley
only scoring once more.
After the game Captain Chris Stevenson
accepted the trophy which was brought
back to the Lucknow Arena..The team will
now be travelling to play against the win-
ner of the Langton Wainfleet series in the
All Ontario quarter finals. The series
should be starting this week and will see a
lot of exciting hockey.
