The great game of
Mushball is coming
The great game of Mushball will hit
Lucknow this weekend and the Reunion
Committee team is once again ready to.
display their talents in the sport to all who
care to watch.
Chairman of the committee, Ian Mon-
tgomery, reports that the team gained
vaulabe experience. when they par-
ticipated in the Mushball Tourney held in
Bluevale two weeks ago. Although the
team came away with one win and one
loss, Ian feels they can easily improve this
record this weekend.
The Business Association of Lucknow
will also have a team entered in the one -
day tournament. At press time, a total of
eight teams had registered for the event.
The Kinsmen, sponsors of the tourney, had
hoped for as many as 16 teams.
For anyone not familiar with Mushball,
it is a variation of slopitch played in the
snow. Teams must be equally co-ed, which
should prove most interesting for spec-
tators and players alike.
Reports have it that some of the teams
entered are comprised of inexperienced
players. This will undoubtedly make for a
great deal of fun, not to mention thrills and
spills.
A dance will follow the action in the
evening with Mugsy Music providing the
entertainment, so come out and cheer on
your favorite team and help celebrate with
the victors afterwards.
While Mushball is not an Olympic event -
yet - , it is certainly the most humorous
ball you'll ever see.
All proceeds from this weekend's event
will go to the Lucknow Sports Complex
Fund.
Lucknow vs. Goderich
rematch this weekend
Lucknow Novice
The Lucknow Novice team hosted the
Goderich Novices on Tuesday, February 2
for an exhibition game, and despite a great
effort, the local boys came up on the short
end of the score board.
Lucknow played a solid gameand were
able to hold the Goderich team to a one -all
tie until late in the third peiod.
Lee Drennan was Lucknow's lone
marksman with an assist going to Jeff
Porter. The home team kept the,Goderich
goalies busy with their shots on net.
At the other end of the rink, Graeme
Hunter and Curt Humphrey both made
some excellent stops between the pipes to
keep their team in the game right down to
the final buzzer.
The entire squad played their postions
well and coaches Gerry and Steve were
quite proud of their boys, who showed that
they can play well under pressure.
The final score was 3 - 1 in favour of
Goderich and a return match is planned
for the Goderich Memorial Arena on
February 13 staring at 4 p.rn.
In addition to this series of ehibition
games, the playoff schedule will soon be
announced. Team members will be
notified as soon as possible.
