The Lucknow Sentinel, 1988-01-20, Page 16a a Page 16—Lucknow Sentinel, Wednesday, January 20, 1988 Thomas Harrison Taylor Harrison Taylor passed away at Van- couver General Hospital on January 7, 1988, in his 77th year, after a lengthy illness. Born in West Wawanosh Township, he was the son of the late Thomas B. Taylor and May Draisey. He is survived by two brothers, Herbert Taylor of Godgrich, Albert Taylor and his wife Catherine of RR 2, Lucknow; also by one niece and two nephews, one great niece and two great nephews. Mr. Taylor worked as a miner for a number of years at Kirkland Lake, On- tario. He served in the Air Force, based at Regina. After the war he worked at road- building for a logging company on Van- couver Island. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A.• Ramsay at MacKenzie and Mc- Creath Funeral Home on Monday, January 11, at 2 p.m. Spring interment Dungannon Cemetery. Florence Marjorie (Willoughby) Hum- phrey Florence Humphrey of West Wawanosh Township died at her residence on January 11, 1988 in her 58th year. Born in Wingham on October 8, 1930, she was a member of the Lucknow United Church. Mrs, Humphrey is survived by her hus- band, Lloyd, whom she married on September 15, 1951. She is also survived by her mother, Mrs. Marjorie Sieling of Wingham; Richard Humphrey and wife Ramona of Auburn; Bonnie Melichercik and her husband John of Guelph and Bradley Humprey of Lucknow. Also by three grandchildren, Ellen Humphrey, Christopher Humphrey and Ashley Melichercik. Three sisters also survive: Bonnie Hamilton, Wingham; Josie Anger, Wingham; and Jean Toye, Kitchener. Mrs. Humphrey was pre'deseased by her father, James Willoughby. Rev. Gerald McFarlane of the Lucknow United Church conducted the funeral ser- vices from the MacKenzie and McCreath. Funeral Home, Lucknow, on Wednesday, 'January 13. Springinterment in Greenhill Cemetery. GEORGE NELSON HODGINS George Nelson Hodgins of Ripley passed away suddenly at Kincardine and District Hospital Thursday January 7, 1988, in his 69th year. Born in Huron Twp. November 22, 1919, he was the son of the late George Hodgins and Rose Jackson. He is survived by his wife Irma (Dixon), one son Joe of Ripley, three daughters Lyn- da Benson, of Komoka, Mavis Stokes of Wingham, Kerry of Aylmer, and seven grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters Clara Webster, Lucknow, Elinor Seymour, Bruce Twp. The funeral was held from MacKenzie - 'McCreath Funeral Chapel, Ripley, January 9, with Rev. Marilyn Letsun officiating. Pallbearers were friends and neighbours Don McLay, Bob Love, John D. McKay, Howard Harrison, Doug Moore and Wayne Nixon. Spring interment in Ripley Cemetery. New Years baby - Lucknow area's first baby of the, year is a girl born to Christine and Henry Haveman of RR1 Holyrood. She was born at 1:14 a.m. on January 11 and weighed in at 7 lbs, 13 oz. The new baby is a wee sister for Henry, Patrick and Kirk. GIBSON - David and Sheila (Button) are pleased to announce the birth of their daughter, Holly Ann Marie, 7lbs. 3 oz.on January 12, 1988, St. Joseph's Hospital, London. First grandchild for Jim and Eleanor Gibson, RR 3 Lucknow and Frances and Doug Button of Teeswater. CAMERON -Jack and Nancy, RR7 Lucknow, are pleased to announce the. birth of their daughter, Meagan Elizabeth, on January 12, 1988 in the Wingham and District Hospital. Meagan has three older brothers, Brent, Adam and David. Proud grandparents are Ralph and Euphemia Cameron of Lucknow and Clarence and Velma Shelley of Mitchell. Lucknow W.I. The Lucknow Women's Institute met January 12 in the Town Hall with the Con- sumer Affairs committee, Noma Campbell and Belle Herbert in charge. Dorothy Brown welcomed all and gave a reading The Highland Lass. The guest speaker was Norine Hamilton, Home Care Supervisor from Walkerton. She showed slides and gave the rules to follow on homecare needs. Ms. Hamilton claims that with homecare becoming so popular among seniors, a waiting list is needed. Dorothy thanked Norine for a very interesting and enlightening presentation. The roll call was an exchange of recipes. The minutes and business were dealt with by the secretary Edna Young, followed by Mabel Whitby giving the • treasurer's report. Arrangements were made to cater a banquet in the future and host a card par- ty, in February. The correspondence was then read. Noma Campbell read a poem New year's Wish and gave a paper on Good Health Habits. Kay McIntosh entertained on her elec- tric organ and the meeting closed with the Queen.
