The Lucknow Sentinel, 1988-01-13, Page 16Page 16-Lucknow Sentinel, Wednesday, January 13, 1988 Annie Dunedin Bushell Mrs. Dunedin Bushell of Kinlough, died suddenly in Kincardine and District Hospital, Sunday,�,ianiary, 3, 1988 in her 74th year. Born in Kinloss Township on April 3, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Donald McDonajd and Mary Jane Britton. She is survived by her husband, Edbert Bushell; one son George of Ottawa and one daughter, Mrs. Katherine Fraser of Armow. Also surviving, are one sister Mary, Mrs. Rex Stewart of Millarton; one brother, Thomas McDonald of Kinlough five grandchildren, David Bushell, Janet Bushell, Annie Fraser, Edwin Fraser and Janice Fraser. The funeral was held from the Davey- Linklater Funeral Chapel, Kincardine on Thursday, January 7, 1988, with Rev. William Baird officiating. Pallbearers were grandsons, David Bushell and Edwin Fraser; nephews Donald Stewart and Malcolm MacDonald; neighbours Donald Bushell and Terry Burt. Spring interment in Kincardine Cemetery. Lionel (Sandy) G. D. Rider Sandy Rider of 660 Wheeler Street, Lucknow died in the University Hospital, London on January 2, 1988, at the age of 70 years. Mr. Rider was born in London, England and was a -son of the late Cecil Rider and Amy Corrie. He was a member of St. Peter's Anglican Church, Lucknow and the Tecumseh Masonic Lodge, Stratford. On September 24, 1939, Mr. Rider mar- ried the former Yvonne Maple in London, England. Aside from his wife Yvonne, Mr. Rider is survived by his children, Mrs. Pauline McKay, Pefferlaw; Elaine Bossence, Owne Sound; Jacqueline Morden' Sebr- ingville; Eleanor Kelly, Stratford; and Wayne Rider, also of Stratford. Two sisters in Portsmouth, England, four grandchildren and one great grand- child also survive. MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow was in charge of the funeral arrangements. A private family memorial service was held Sunday, January 3, 1988 by Rev. M. Letson of St. Peter's Anglican Church. Cremation followed with interment of ashes in ,England. Ruby Carton Mrs. Ruby Carton, 25 Ontario St. Marathon, died suddenly at home Dec. 13, 1987 in her eighty-fourth year. She was the wife of the late Ross Carton who predeceased her in 1962. Ruby is remembered lovingly by her sister-in-law Mrs., Annie Kilpatrick of Lucknow, and brother-in-law Dr. Herman Vooden of Toronto. Also surviving are nieces Mrs. Noreen Gnay Belgrave, Mrs. Marilyn Meaden of London, and Mrs. Gladys Halhed of Ottawa, and nephew Mr. Keith Kilpatrick of Guelph. Born in Ashfield Township. Mrs. Carton received her education in Goderich and later graduated from the University of Western Ontario with an Honours Bachelor of Arts. Mrs. Carton,will be remembered for her many contributions to the welfare of Marathon since her arrival here as a teacher at '•the Continuation School in Marathon. She set up and was the prin- cipal of the Marathon High School until her retirement in 1967. All the permanent school buildings on the present site of the school were built during her tenure as principal. She is fondly remembered by both those she taught and those who served her as teachers and staff. Ruby Carton was a Life. Member of St. John's United Church and served a term. as president of the United Church Women. She also was a member of the Session. She was a Life Member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Wilson Memorial Hospital and was instrumental in its organization serving as president for the first term. She also served with interest on the Marathon Library Board and was on the board when . the Marathon Centennial Library was built. In 1967 she was awarded the Canadian Centennial Medal for her valuable' service to the nation of Canada for her many unselfish efforts.
