Five Oaks, air education centre of . the United Church of Canada near .Paris on May 27. Forty- seven took the trip. Enroute they toured The, Cedars in Kitchener, the only church in Canada built jointly by a Christian. and Jewish. congregation, the Westminster United . Church and Temple Shalom... The Cedars. opened in 1996... At Five Oaks, the group was part of a dedication service of a bedroom that the • Lucknow• United. Church Women had donat- ed money to refurbish in • memory of Marion' McFarlane,. wife .of Rev,,. Gerald McFarlane who was minister at Lucknow United Church for six and a• half years.. Debbie Johnston,: student intern at Five Oaks, conducted the dedication. Nimble Fingers group. of the Lucknow UCW made some articles tobe. used ' at : Five Oaks. Marlene•, Struthers', presi— dent of the. Lucknow UCW, • was spokesperson • • ' for the presentations of the following: Jean Irwin and Anna May Hunter two quilts, pillow shams and cushions; Barbara Helm, on behalf of the Young Women Can Achieve, a clock; Margaret Black,. a framed copy she had done in calligraphy of a hymn. that Marion McFarlane had written while she was ill in .1991; .Mary Lou Irwin, a picture of Marion McFarlane. All items. are. to be used in the dedicated room. ' Shirley Bolt and Mae Hunter presented two quilts, pillow shams and, cushions and Betty Ritchie, on behalf of Trinity UCW, presented a quilt to be 'used in other rooms. Mernbers of the Lu:cknow Church choir sang "God Will. Hold Us In The Palmi. Of His Hand," the hymn written by Marion, Rev.
