Christmas Prayer
Oh, Heavenly Father, hear our prayer,
Thy greatful children, ask Thee to bear:
For families, whose gentle care,
With love, surround us everywhere.
Thank Thee for Jesus, sent from above,
Born in a manger, to show Thy love.
Shepherd's were watching flocks in the night
God sent His bright, and glorious light.
Out in the east, wise men from afar,
Travelled toward that glorious star.
Bringing rare gifts to give to this king,
Showing their love, with gifts that they bring.
High in the sky, Gods angels sang,
While all the bells in Heaven rang.
Telling of the Saviours birth.
To every nation, throughout the earth.
Almighty God accept we pray,
This prayer we bring to Thee, to -day.
Renew our hearts, with us abide,
At this joyous Christmastide.
Increase our faith, and please forgive,
For without Thee, we cannot live.
In every greeting that we send.
Peace on the earth. goodwill toward men.

Appreciate story on day centre for homebound
December 12. 1983.
To the Editor:
On behalf of the Board of Directors of the
Wingham and Area Day Centre for the
Homebound. 1 wish to thank you for the
excellent article which appeared recently in
the Sentinel. complete with interviews with
Seniors. concerning the activities at the
Centre.
We do appreciate the coverage in your
newspaper. letting potential users of the
Centre. as well as the general public know
what goes on at the Centre. It was
particularly gratifying to hear it from the
Seniors point of view.
We wish to thank you also for your support
of the Board Representatives when they
appeared before the Village Council recently
on behalf of the Centre. through your press
coverage.
Thanks to you. attitudes appear to have
changed considerably. You must have wide
coverage. for every village and township
council we have visited since seems to have
read the coverage re Lucknow (and enjoyed
it!) This has made our job much easier in
seeking support for the Centre with funding.
since 40 per cent of the users live in Bruce
County.
We wish you every success in your work
and very best wishes for the Holiday Season.
Yours truly.
Janet M. Reid.

The Land of Israel
May 19'5
(following a trip to Israel)
In the biblical land of Israel.
Our plane lands at Ben Gurion airport;

This city could be a resort.
Enroute we pass Jaffa orange groves.
Ripe fruit. already for test:

Olive groves. now ripe to digest.
Quaint historic city of Jerusalem.
Unique. in a different way:
We entered the gates of the old wall.

We ascended the Mount of Olives.
Overlooking the Garden of Gethsemane:
At Capernaum. we entered the boat.
Fascinating ride 'cross the Galilee Sea.
Met large flocks of sheep. led by shepherds.
As we travelled to Bethlehem town:
Behold sight of the lush Shepherd's field.
Several people were milling around.
Famous wailing wall at Jerusalem.
Where millions come to pray:
Several thousands come every year.
Many. just want to stay.
Step by step. up Via Dolorosa.
Where Jesus. carried the cross:
Along narrow streets. numerous venders.
Were selling their wares. not for loss.
We visit the beautiful tomb garden.
Where communion was held for the crowd:
In the background. the hill of Golgotha.
Where we entered. the tomb of our Lord.

Christmas in the Country
As countless families reunite.
Warmed with the season spirit:
While many folk with memories sweet.
Relive their childhood. when lamps were lit.
Grey smoke plumes drifted. above the trees.
To greet friends travelling. through the snow;
In horse and cutter. sleigh or sled.
With bells ajingling as they go_
The living room of the old farm house.
Where the organ peeled with joy:
The eight foot tree. in the corner stood.
Where the children played with their toys.
That quaint farm house. that was home to all.
Its memories anchored in timeless past:
Where love and laughter. joy. and mirth.
Left vivid imprints on hearts. shall last.
We must not forget the drive. through the dark.
To attend the church of their childhood:
All joined in the singing of Christmas hymns.
And the parson prayed as they stood.
The Star. always shown for the peace of the world.
ifs rays. shining down from above:
Let's not crowd It out. in our hurry and bustle.
The Manger. the Cross. and His Love.
