South Kinloss WMS hold pot luck dinner
Although many schools were closed and
other events cancelled, South Kinloss
W.M.S. Christmas meeting was held
December 7. The hostess, Mrs. Evan Keith,
and directors Mrs. John Forster and Mrs.
Olive Needham had the church basement
beautifully decorated for the pot luck dinner,
which preceded the meeting.
Vice-president, Mrs. Allan MacDougall
presided for the business. Minutes were
read andopted A thank you letter was
read from the MacLeod family for the
luncheon served after Mrs. Sandy Mac -
Lead's funeral. Mrs. Fraser MacKinnon
gave the treasurer's report. The allocation
was reached for this year.
Motions were passed to donate money
from the Ladies' Aid Fund to the Sunshine
Committee and also to the Sunday School for
Christmas candy. Another motion was made
(o change the meeting date from the first
Wednesday of the month to the first
Tuesday.
It was announced that the annual congre-
gational dinner will be held December 18
followed by the Sunday School Christmas
Program,
Fifteen members answered the roll call
and there were six guests.
Mrs. Olive Needham took the chair for the
well planned Christmas program which
began with a poem, The Christmas Story,
followed by prayer.
Mrs. Allison Ramsay told what Christmas
means by thoughts on each letter in the word
Christmas.
Mrs. Bruce Colwell sang two beautiful
Christmas solos, accompanied by Mrs. John
Forster, who later read the Christmas story
from Luke 2, and Matthew 2.
Mrs. Needham had another good reading,
The Meaning of Christmas, and eight ladies
made a Christmas wreath depicting symbols
of Christmas.
The program was interspersed with the
singing of Christmas carols.
Mrs. Evan Keith, Presbyterial vice-pres-
ident, very capably presented the study from
council re - concerns relating to the Name
and Purpose of the Society. All agreed on
keeping the name as W.M.S. With the use of
a chart Mrs. Keith wrote out what members
thought the purpose should be. She will
return the response form to the office by the
end of December.
Mrs. Needham thanked the hostess and
all those taking part and the meeting closed
with prayer and all singing, Silent Night.
Trinity UC Wpack boxes for shut-ins
Trinity U.C.W. held their Christmas
meeting December 8 at the home of Mrs.
William Andrew Jr., with an attendance of
18.
The president, Mrs. D. A. Hackett called
the meeting to order with a Christmas
thought. MI sang, 0 Come MI Ye Faithful.
Mrs. Warrens read an article, When
Is Christmas? Mrs. Zinn and Mrs. Ken Alton
gave the meditation, interspersed with
Christmas hymns, and then closed devotions
with prayer.
The roll call was answered with your
Favourite Christmas Carol. Mrs. Jim Hunter
gave a reading, For You, All the Bright and
Merry.
Ten boxes were packed December 5 for
the shutins.

Alton sang a lovely solo, On the Night When
Jesus was Born. The Bible Study was
conducted by Mrs. Chester Hackett, who
divided those present into four groups to tell
what we have learned about Matthew, Mark,
Luke and John.
The business followed, then all joined in
singing, Away in a Manger. A social hour
followed.
Christmas
Eve Service
There will be a Christman Eve Service hi
the Lucknow Presbyterian Church on
December 24, at 8,00 p.m., conducted by
the Young People from the South Kinloss
and Luclnow congregations.
