Honour Whitechurch couple, on golden anniversary

Relatives and friends from Kirkton,
London, Goderich, Woodstock, Georgetown,
Markham, Alliston, Kincardine, Lucknow,
Wingham and surrounding area gathered on
Friday evening to celebrate Mr, and Mrs.
Russel Chapman's Stith wedding anniver-
saThe evening was hosted by their family,
Garry and wife of Wingham, Lisa, Sara and
Aaron, and Shirley Smith of London, son
Bradley, who is at Royal Military College,
Victoria and daughter, Mrs. Phillip Blarkler
and Mr, !flakier, Jessica and Alia of
Kirkland
Russel and Mary were married November
11, 1933 at Markham. Mr, and Mrs.
Chapman have five grandchildren and two
great grandchildren.
Mr, and Mrs. Chapman managed the
general store at the corner for years and also
drove a school bus.
The dinner provided by the family was
held Friday evening in Whitechurch Com-
munity Memorial Hail and was a complete
surprise to mom and dad.
After the dinner Garry Chapman told of
the congratulatory messages received from
Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, Opposition
leader Brian Mulroney, Murray Cardiff
M . P. , Murray Elston M.P.P. and Governor
General Ed Shreyer.
Mt. and Mrs. Chapman received many
gifts and cards. M1 then enjoyed euchre and
crokinole.
Ross Smith of Russeldale visited on
Wednesday with Mr. and Mrs. Chapman as
he could not be present cm Friday evening at
the celebration.
Mrs. Schneller spent last week in Kitch-
ener. Returning home for a visit with het
were Jamie, Shannon and Jerry Grimes,
whom she had been baby sitting last week.
Agnes Farrier spent last week at Guelph
with Mt. and Mrs. Wayne Farrier, Kimber-
ley and Amy.
Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Russel
Chapman were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Weight
and Dale of Gormley and Rev. Wilena Brown
of Varna.
The board of Whitechurch Water System
held a meeting on Wednesday evening at the
home of Mr, and Mrs. Victor Emerson.
Mr, and Mrs. Walter Elliott and Karen
and Leslie visited on Sunday with Mr, and
Mrs. Norman Stewart, Mark, Susan and
Heather of Lambeth.
Mr. and Mrs. Ron Nicholson, Ryan and
Erin of Strathroy spent the weekend with het
parents, Mt. and Mrs. John de Boer and
family.
Weekend visitors with Cassie Mowbray
were Mt. and Mrs. Hector Putdon, London,
Rally service at United church
On Sunday, November 6, the Sunday
School of Lucknow United Church held a
Rally Day Setv4ee, at which time all of the
Sunday School participated in the regular
morning worship service, The grade 6 - 7'
class wrote the Prayer of Confession, which
was led by one of their members, Paul Helm.
The grade 4 - S class wrote the Litany of
Thanksgiving, which was led by Dale
Pfiestarp. Denise Helm and Bonnie Hender-
son read the scripture lessons; Glen Gibson
and Lynn Alton had a dialogue on the Lord's
Prayer; Paul Helm, Carol Ferguson, David
Cayley and Doug Clark played several
ttumpet duets and trios; and all the students
and teachers led the congregation in singing
several of their Sunday School choruses.
During the same service. Rev. McDougall
presented "Religion in Life' awards to one
Girl Guide. Sharon Askes, and two Cubs,
Daryl Graham and Paul Helm. These three
young people had participated in a Religion
in Life class which was taught by Rev.
McDougall. An important aspect of the
Guide -Scout program is to assist in the
spiritual growth of each boy and girl. The
standards for the attainment of the award
are based ort learning about the Christian
faith, participation in the life and work of the
church, and the application of this faith to
life situations. congratulations to Sharon,
Daryl and Paul on their achievement!
The Lucknow United Church Youth Group
held a bowling party on Saturday, November
5 at the Lucky Wood Lanes. Following the
bowling, the group mored to the home of
Darren McKim. Chris Clark led in devotions,
and the McKims served punch and cookies.
The Youth Group, along with the CGfT, is
planning a trip to the Grand Theatre in
London on Sunday, November 20 to see a
live production of the tock musical "God-
spe11", which is based on the teachings and
parables of Jesus as told in the Gospel of
Matthew.

occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Evening Mass was conducted by Father
Edouard Danger of Kingsbridge and
Father Frani Denting3er of St. Augustine.
Other guests vnrcloded their family. Mr. and
Mrs_ Jim teddy. Santa (teddy) Ansley.

Ashfreld Township. Mask and cards, were
ended and a buffet ohnner was served.
Raymond teddy. St. Augustine and
Gertrude O'Connor. Kingsbridge were
married St. Joseph's Church. FG ings-
bridge on October 21st. 1933. Their attend-
ants were Jots y O'Connor and Sara (teddy)
Anstett.
They have ten children and a deceased
daughter. Agatha Antra: twerrty-two-gtand-
chiilden+. and a deceased grandson. Brian
Raymond and Gertrude farrowed for
twenty -fie years on the family homestead
now owned by Kenneth and Catherine
teddy. They moved to Licknow n, yews

Carol Rintoul won the senior champion-
ship showman for Chatolais ori Saturday,
and sister, Kimberley won the junior
championship.
John Adams of Windsor spent the
weekend with his mother, Pauline Adams.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. John
Stewart of Blyth on the arrival of a baby girl
on November 4. Mrs, Stewart is the former
Mary Lou Adams.
Bevin and Corey Rintoul visited Sunday
with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Gordon Rantoul while their parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Garry Rintoul, attended the Royal
Winter Fair.

The Whitechurch W.I. public relations
meeting was held Wednesday evening,
November 9 in Whitechurch Community
Memorial Hall. The meeting opened with
Rena Fisher in charge,
The minutes were read by Mrs. Russel
McGuire.
The roll call, My Worst Mistake in
Cooking, brought interesting and varied
responses, Mrs. Currie read, In Flanders
Fields, and told the story, Remembering
Mrs, Elgin Johnston gave the motto, The
Life We Live is the Life We Teach. A reading
was given by Mrs, Nusink of Teeswater,
Mrs. Don Ross introduced the guest
speaker, Carroll McKim of Lucknow, who
spoke about her trip to Honduras with a
medical mission team and shoed a slide
presentation. She was thanked and given a
gift by Mrs. Bill Rintoul,
Rena Fisher gave a reading, Dolly Dee
Goes to the Talkies. Visitors were present
from Teeswater and Wingham. Lunch
committee was Merle Wilson, Mrs. Dave
Gibb and Mrs. Johnston Conn,
