Holyrood remembrance service honours war dead

The Township hall at Holyrood was filled
an Btiday, November 11 for the annual
Remembrance bay service which is sponsor-
ed each year by the Holyrood Women's
Institute.
The president, Mrs. Charles Murray, in
her capable manner, was the chair lady and
gave a reading explaining why a service such
as this is so ittipottant.
Grades 2 and J from Kinloss Central
School along with their teacher, Audrey
MacDonald, vete present.
Mrs. Murray welcomed everyone and
called upon Harty Johnston, teeve of Kinloss
Township, for a few timely remarks. This
was followed by two minutes silence and the
wreath was placed by Mts. Donald Me wan,

The school pupils sang two songs accom-
panied by their teacher and their school
wreath was placed by Hilly Cooper, The
hymn, 0 Ood of Love, 0 King of peace, was
sung.
Mr. and Mrs. Htuce Hushell then favoured
with a lovely duet accompanied by Mrs.
William MacPherson.
Recollections of World Wats 1 and 2 were
given by May Hayle, it being 65 years since
1918 when the Armistice was signed.
Pastor M. Christensen of the Kinlaugh
Pentecostal Church was the guest speaker,
being one who was an officer and saw war in
action. He concluded by reminding everyone
that our Lord paid the surpterve sacrifice
and he gave a prayer at the close of his
message. The, hymn, Baith of Our Bathers,
was sung. The president thanked everyone
tot their assistance in the service and all
joined in singing cod Save the Queen.
Recent local visitors with Mr. and Mrs.
Rill MacPherson, Holyrood, were Mr. and
Mrs. Lyman Sutton of Teeswater.
Mrs. ptlwood Plliott of concession 8 and
Rhoda and Cathy Chesbro of Kincardine
attended the funeral of their uncle, the late
Kenneth Woods of t lora on Wednesday.
Bennis Hrace and son, Travers of
Medicine Hat, Alberta spent a few days with
Mr. and Mts. Gerald Rhody.
We extend sympathy to the family and
relatives of the late George Colwell of
Lucknow and formerly of here.
Mts. Jahn Hatt, Mts. Jack Hart,
Winnifted Percy and &hut and May Doyle
visited friends at Hruceiea Haven, Walker-
ton on Monday.
Mrs. Gerald Rhody held a Tupperware
party at het home on Wednesday afternoon,
Mrs. Leonard Stanley was the sales repres-
entative,
Mr. and Mrs. Hill Hurt had relatives on
Saturday evening, honouring Mr. and Mrs.
Jim Holger (Nee Karen Hodgins) of St.
Catharines.
PLra Stanley asked the blessing and
evetypne did justice to the delicious meal
which was followed with the bride and
groom opening the gifts after Mts. Leonard
Stanley read an address of good wishes from
all present. Rob Hodgins of London read the
