Lucknow United Church
marks 121s1 anniversary
Capacity congregations were present at
both morning and evening services at
Lucknow United Church on Sunday, October
16, when Mr, Paul Henderson was theiguest
speaker for the 121st anniversary cele-
billions of the church, His messages, "It's
the Beal Thing" and "How to Live the Real
Thing" were both challenging and thought
provoking,
The senior choir offered two anthema at
the morning services "Beside Still Waters"
and "Clod h In His Hol, Temple", and one
anthem at the evening service, "Ave
Verum", Members of the CIT also sang at
the evening service, singing "`!'hank You
Por Loving Me",
On T uesd ity, October IS, another very
successful turkey supper seas held at
Lucknow United Church, Many meals were
sent out to shot ins and others who could not
attend, as well as those who were served at
the church.
The Sacrament of Infant Baptism was
celebrated Sunday, October 21 Received
into membership through baptism were:
Daniel Charles McDonagh, son of Rod and
Joanne McDonagh; Devitt James Petteplace,
son of 11rad and Sharon Petteylace; and
Ratimvn :lames Rais-Iliraux, sort of Arman
and Debbie Rais.Firoux. Mt. and Mrs.

United Church.

The Ashfield W,M,S, mei at the home of
Mrs, Donald Simpson on the evening of
October 20,
Mrs, PAvan MacLean opened the meeting
with a reading, Mrs, fleury Mackenzie e was
the leader for the Thanksgiving Worship
Service from the Glad Tidings with Mtn.
,;wan MacLean and Mrs. Waffett Wylds
taking part,
A poem, A Thanksgiving, was read by
Mrs, Ewan MacLean, fltoll call was answered
by a Thanksgiving verse, Mrs, MacLean
gave thoughts on Thanksgiving, the many
lovely things of nature we can be thankful
for, the birds, bountiful harvests, the lovely
colours of autumn: She also told what some
other people ate thattkaftil far including one
young couple with nine children of which
many had handicaps, two of the children are
their natural children, three are adopted,
and foot foster children.
Offering was received with the offering
prayer by Mts. Henry MacKenzie. Mts.
wan MacLean introduced the study nasion
on the W:M:S: purpose, and the group
developed a new wording for the purpose.
-they also discussed two new perceptions of
the group -- one including men, women,
youth and children and another with it
remaining as a women's en's group. The
strengths and weaknesses were discussed.
Mts. Henry MacKenzie conducted the
business.

weekend in Sterling Heights, Michigan
attending an Oldtittret's fibre Hockey week-
end. Hatt/ was awarded MVP of the
Godetrch team and the I odetich Old Deck -

spent the weekend with Cliff and Joan
Livingston and family:

The Adult Fellowship Group of Trinity
Church met at the home of Mex and Ella
Hackett ori Sunday evening. Atthtit and
Betty Scott showed etre new filmstrip,

need for neva monies for the United Churctr.

and interesting plaices in Ashfield and West
