Former Ripley area couple return from Europe
Home from Europe
Oliver and Marion McCharles along with
three other couples from Kincardine were
on holidays in Europe from Sept. 9 to 28.
During the 19 days they travelled by plane,
ship, rail, and bus and visited six different
countries - Norway, Sweden, Denmark,
Holland, West Germany and England where
they spent five days in London.
Just back from the trip last Thursday,
Mrs. Alan Whicher of Wiarton drove to Kin-
cardine bringing two aunts of Marion both in
their nineties. They were Mrs. Clarence
McGillivray 90 from New York and Mrs.
Myrtle Ashley 93 from Wlarton. Marion then
invited her sisters Mrs. Tillie Smith and
Mrs, Jean Wylds both of Kincardine for a
family visit with Marion and Oliver at their
home on Huron Terrace south in Kincar-
dine.
Mr, and Mrs. Orland McLeod have return-
ed home from a month's vacation in
Western Canada. Visiting their son Donald
and family In Victoria, daughter Dorothy
and family in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta
and son John and family in Red Deer, Alber-
ta.
Visiting with Francis and Margaret Gem-
mell on fall fair weekend were their
daughter Ann and husband Ken Smith and
their daughter Whitney of Brantford also
8111 and Paul Harris of Landon.

Sutherland, Mrs. It. Peck (the former
Pauline Dierlami) of Toronto, Mrs, Murray
Wyatt and Mrs. Harry Willis of Stoney
Creek, and Miss Terry Pearson of Winnipeg,
Manitoba,
Fall fair weekend visitors with Mr, and
Mrs. John C, MacDonald were their family
-- Corinne MacDonald of Toronto, Courtney
and Susan MacDonald and Mr, and Mrs.
Darryl Gopaul, Tanya and Laura of Lon-
don; Mr, and Mrs. Donald Courtney of
Winglham and daughter Carol Wernsdorf of
Athabasca, Alberta; Mr. and Mrs, Gary
Courtney and family Steven, Denice, and
Roxanne; and Mr. and Mrs. Morgan
Johnston.
Visiting with their grandparents Jim and
Marie Lowry in Ripley and attending the
fair were Kathryn and Jim Hinchley of
Ajax,
Visiting with grandma Mrs. Jennie
McLean and with George and Joy McLean
were Ken and Ruth MacDonald and sons
Chris and Jeff of Kitchener for the fall fair.
Here with Mrs, Marion McTavish for a
day at the fall fair was Doris Aitcheson of
London.
With Joe and Jean Dickinson and Tracy
on Malcolm Street, daughter Jacquie was
home from Ajax.

Larry and Shelley Barker and children
Dustin and Robin of Collingwood were here
for the weekend visiting with her parents
Carl and Pat Brennan. While here Shelley
clerked in the grocery store an Saturday and
renewed acquaintance with customers.
In hospital
At the present time the following people
from Ripley are in hospital, At Kincardine
are Mrs. Elizabeth Fair and John Coiling
and in London at University Hospital are
Dave Henderson and Martin Phelan. Best
wishes go to them.
Fall fair reunion
The friendly Ripley Huron fall fair held on
the last Saturday in September with its
Gaelic greeting motto 'MUD MILLE

These are a few. At the Finlay MacDonald
threshing demonstration at the fair it was a
small Ashfield — Lochalsh reunion. Beside
Finlay from the Highway 86 west there were
Kenny MacDonald of Ripley and John
Finlayson of Arizona forking the sheaves, In
the group watching were Malcolm
Finlayson, Jane Finlayson, and also John's
wife Elinor. They were visiting with Mrs.
Mary (Donnie) MacDonald in Ripley and at
the home farm on the 20th sideroad north of
Lochalsh where Mrs. Dorothy Finlayson
now lives.

Last Wednesday September 28, 1983, Mor-
ford William Mackay passed away suddenly
in his home just north east of the Ripley
Grain Elevator. Morford was born on

Wednesday March 14, 1923, in Huron
Township. The funeral service was held on
Saturday October 1 at the MacKenzie Mc-
Creath Funeral Home in Ripley with Rev.
Finlay McCormick of Chesley officiating.
Interment was in Ripley cemetery.
He is survived by three daughters Anne,
Shirley, and Mary all of Kincardine and
three sons William on the home farm on
Con. 10 west in Huron Township, Allan of
Scarborough, and David of Kincardine, and
his mother Mrs. William J. Mackay of
Huron Villa in Ripley also three grand-
children Lisa and Chris Rock of Kincardine
and Bradley Mackay of Scarborough.
JACK STURGEON
Jack Sturgeon of Monroe, Michigan pass-
ed away last Saturday October 1, 1983 in the
Mercy Hospital there. He was berm in
Michigan on Tuesday October 27, 1925. The
funeral service was held yesterday after-
noon October 4, 1983 in the MacKenzie Mc-
Creath Funeral Home in Ripley with Rev.
Hugh Nugent of Knox Presbyterian Church
in charge with interment in Ripley
Cemetery. He is survived by his wife the
former Jean Ferris of Ripley, his mother
Mrs. Rose Jewel of Lucknow, one sister
Carolyn Fasone of Culiform and one brother
Wilbert of Lucknow. To them sympathy is
extended at this time of bereavement.
