The Lucknow Sentinel, 1983-06-29, Page 39THE SEPOY TOWN Lucknow, Ontario, was so named by James Somerville in 1858, also known as "The Sepoy Town" and derived from the fact that Sepoy Indians loyal to the British in 1857, helped the 93rd free 1600 Europeans and quell the uprising in Lucknow, India.
