ed by Peggy Henderson of'
Lucknow and the bottom pic-
ture, taken in 1945, was
contributed by a Sentinel
reader who wishes to remain
anonymous. The names of
the young ladies appear on
the back page of today's
Sentinel.
Institute honours grandmothers
Grandmothers were hon-
oured at the May meeting of
the Kinloss-Kairshea Wom-
en's Institute held May 19 at
8 p.m. at the Institute Hall,
with Mrs, Clarence Ritchie
as hostess.
The new president, Mrs.
Leonard Clarke welcomed all
to the meeting and read a
poem, Grandmothers. Mrs.
Donald MacKinnon read the
scripture.
Correspondence read by
the secretary -treasurer, Mrs.
Donald Maclntyre, included
invitations to the Hospital
Tea sponsored by the Ripley
W.I. and the 75th anniver-
sary of the Lucknow
both to be held in June.
Mrs. Cliff Roulston report-
ed on an Arthritis Society
meeting she had attended.
Mrs. Harry Lavis reported
that Kairshea had collected
$273,50 for the Cancer Fund.
Mrs. Farish Moffat gave a
splendid report on the Offic-
er's Conference held in May
at the Waterloo University.
The theme this year was,
Approach each tomorrow
with the knowledge you gain
today. There were 482 dele-
gates at this Conference for
Resolutions Conveners.
Mrs. Harold Howald gave
a full report of the District
Annual held in Lucknow Leg-
ion May 17. She reported
that Kairshea had the most
members attending,
The roll call, Show and
Tell, brought forth many
beautiful crafts e.g. quilting,
smocking, crewel embroid-
ery and crocheting. The Sun-
shine Sister's meeting in
June will be in the form of a
pot luck dinner.
Mrs. Brian Doelman gave
a humorous reading, Grand-
mother Is. Mrs. Harold How -
aid gave lovely corsages to
different grandmothers.
Mrs. Gershom Johnston, a
guest of Mrs, Clarence Rit-
chie, won the prize for most
granddaughters. Most
grandsons went to Mrs. Phil-
ip Steer, grandchild farthest
away, Mrs. Frank MacKen-
zie, grandchild closest, Mrs.
Ira Dickie, were Just a few of
the many prizes given.
Standing Committee re-
ports were given. The court-
esies were given by Mrs.
Donald MacKinnon. Lunch
was served by the directors,
Mrs. Farish Moffat and Mrs.
Don Matthews.
Brookside students compete
at Junior Olympics May 18

held their Junior Olympics
May 18 sponsored by the
Royal Bank in Lucknow. The
Junior Olympics feature var-
ious track and field events.
Senior champions are
Shelley Good and Kevin
Haggitt, runners up Tanya
Westecott and Audrey Hos
(tied) and Leroy Dougherty,
Intermediate champions
M are Stephanie Durnin and
Kirk Livingston. Runners up
for this division are Donna
Ravnard and Scott Gibson,
Junior champions are Julie
Pentland and Joey Curran
and Philip Luedemann (tied).
Runner up is Debbie Debold.
Midget champions are
Melissa Logtenberg and Ad-
rian Rau. Runners up are
Rachel Fairbaurn and .teff
Storey.
Primary champions are
Tricia Brown and Joel
Wright, Runners up are Lillie
MacAulay, Tanya Maclnnis
and Ruth Anne Durnin (tied)
and Terry Livingston. ('on-
gratulations to all!
Anne Andrew supplied for
Miss Bode while she went
camping with Mr. Liddle's
class. This week Miss Bode
went to a French Workshop
at the Board Office in Clinton
on Thursday, Sid Duggan
from Lucknow was a supply
teacher for Mr. Errington on
1•uesday.
On May 16 and 17 'Or.
I,iddle's grade 6 class went
camping at Camp Meneset-
ung. Miss Bode went along
to help. On Monday they
went for an orientation trail.
They also visited the O, P. P.
station at (',odcrich and had a
tour. They had their finger-
prints taken.
