The Lucknow Sentinel, 1983-04-25, Page 20obituaries Anabelle Lilian Howes Anabelle Lilian (MacKen- zie) Howes of Ashfield Town- ship died on Friday, April 22, 1983 in Alexandra Marine and General Hospital, God- erich. Born in Ashfield Township in 1'904 to Murdoch and Annie (Chambers) MacKen- zie, she attended school in Ashfield Township and God- erirh High School. After at- tending Teachers' College in Stratford, she taught for six years at Montacella in East Luther Township and at Port Albert. She married Earl Howes in August, 1929. She taught Sunday School for many years at Ashfield Presby- terian Church and was a faithhtl member of the Wom- en's Missionary Society. She was predeceased by one son, three sisters and one brother, , She is survived by her husband, Earl, one son, Colin of Ashfield and one daughter, Isabel of London, Two sisters, Lois Gout and Charlotte MacKenzie of Weston, seven grandchild- ren and one great grand- child, also survive. Sarah Jennifer McLellan Sarah Jennifer McLellan, daughter of Forbes and Jo- anne McLellan of 1421 Chris- tina Street North, Sarnia, died Saturday, April 23, 1'983 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Hamilton in her 15th year. She is survived by her parents, a brother, Christ- opher and sister, Melissa, at home, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs, Ray McLellan, Wallaceburg and Mr. and Mrs, Vernon Hunter of Luck - now, and several aunts and uncles. A private family service was held at the McKenzie and Mundy Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 2t at 11 a.m. with Rev. Donald A. Don- aghey of St. Giles Presby- terian Church officiating. Burial followed in ' Lakeview Cemetery, Sarnia. Frances Gillies Mrs. Frances Gillies pass- ed away on Sunday, April 24, 1983 in her ninety-fourth year, after an illness of several months. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. An- drew Emerson of Kincardine Township. In 1913 she mar- ried Donald (Don) Gillies of 1-uron Township where they farmed on Concession in for 33 years, before moving to Ripley in 1947. She was a faithful member of the Knot Presbyterian Church and a life member of the Women's Missionary Society. She was a charter member and a past presi- dent of the Ripley Hor- ticultural Society and also a member of the Ripley Senior Citizens. She was predeceased by her husband, one sister, and two brothers. Surviving are one son Donald of Ripley and one granddaughter Valerie ( Mrs. David Gibson) of Lon- don and two great- grandchildren, Dan and Julie of London. Funeral services were conducted at the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home in Ripley on Wed., April 27, 1983. Rev. Hugh Nugent officiated. Interment in Ripley Cemetery. Relatives and friends from Toronto, Georgetown, Lon- don and New Market attend- ed the funeral.
