Lucknow UCWunits hold joint meeting
The three afternoon units
of the Lucknow U.C.W. met
on Tuesday, April 5 in the
fellowship room for a joint
Easter meeting. Each unit
conducted a separate busi-
ness meeting before the joint
meeting.
Members from each unit
took part in the program.
Mrs, Eldon Ritchie presided
and opened with an Easter
call to worship followed by
the scripture, which was read
by Mrs. Gordon Kirkland,
Mrs, Harvey Houston accom-
panied the hymns on the
piano.
The theme of the worship
was Eternal Life and the
Resurrection. Mrs. William
G. Hunter told of the growth
of the beautiful spring flow-
ers, especially the Easter
lily, which erupts at Easter.
Mrs. Victor Johnston and
Mrs. Walter Dexter told of
the resurrection of Jesus and
Mrs. Wilbur Brown of the
promise of Eternal Life. Mrs.
Ritchie closed the meditation
with prayer.
Mrs. Clare Johnston sung
a solo, His Robe, accompan-
ied by Mrs. Victor Johnston.
Mrs. Glen Walden briefly
reviewed the islands of the
South Pacific which the UCW
is studying prior to the
dewing of the film strip,
People of the Silver Seas.
Commercialism has changed
the life style of the islanders,
and their education is very
brief as it is not paid for by
the government.
They depend on the oceans
for food and travel, and with
the nuclear dumping and
testing in the ocean, it means
a loss of their livelihood.
They live in great fear of the
submarines and ships loaded
with missiles travelling
through their waters and the
nuclear testing that is being
done,
Tourism is changing the
natives ideas of values.
The committee served
lunch and everyone enjoyed
a social time.
Unit 3
Unit 3 of the Lucknow
U.C.W. held their business

ing meetings from Trinity

Edna McDonald gave the
