He ex- plained what the different drugs look like and the danger and side effects itt using the drugs. He showed the different kinds of pipes used, also a little container of marijuana, and a glass case of all the drugs people use and their forms. He advised the students that taking drugs can be fatal. A ping pong tournament including participants front Ripley, Blyth, East Wawa - nosh and Brookside was held last week. Walter Martin of Brookside placed first in the grade 7 boys. Jean McWhin- ney of Brookside tied with Monique Harvey from Rip- ley. Cathy Dow of Brookside won second in the grade 8 division. Congratulations to all who competed. Winter intramural sports are drawing to a dose. Ping pong champions are Leroy Dougherty, Cathy Dow, Jean McWhinney, Walter Martin, Karen Binder, Craig Jef- ferson, Tanya Turner, Mich- ael Millian, Jackie Culbert and Jeffrey Storey. These winners are now playing a tournament of the Cham- pions, The junior floor hockey championship was won by Bob'i Bunker and the crab soccer champions are Tuck- er's Tarantulas. In basketball the senior champs are the Hotshots. The senior floor hockey champs are the Oilers. Mrs. Cameron's grade 2 class has welcomed a new student, Ryan Middelkamp. Miss Bode attended a French conference on March 5 in London at the Sheraton Centre. Miss Bode also help- ed grade 3 make a zoo, The zoo consisted of names of animals in French and pic- tures. Mrs. Blanchette's and Mrs. Cameron's classes went to Robinson's Sugar Bush. They were shown how to extract the sap and also how to tap trees using the vacuum process. They were then allowed to taste maple can- dy, maple syrup, maple taffy and maple butter, Mrs. Young's class is making booklets about their trip to the Sugar Bush. This was real good news to thele in this area last, Wear. 9 following the Bruce County Board of Education meeting in Chesley the day before. This farm is on Highway 86, just east of Lucknow. He was the eldest son of the late Philip J, MacMillan and the late Isabel MacLean of Ashfield Township. Archie was predeceased by a sister, Isabel, in 1932 and a brother, Bruce, 4n 1973. A nephew, ' Bruce Willits. made his home with him for the last 10 years. He is survived by a sister, Jean, Mrs. Walter Willits of R. 1 Wingham, with whom he resided for the last several months, and brother, Philip of R. 1 Lucknow, also two nieces and four nephews, one great niece and three great nephews. Archie was a farmer who was interested in good heavy horses, good cattle and steam threshing outfits. In the 40s and 50s, he and his brother, Bruce operated a threshing machine on many district farms. The late Archie MacMillan rested at the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home where the funeral service was held on Sunday, March 6, 1983, conducted by the Rev. Warren McDougall of the Lucknow United Church. Pallbearers were five ne- phews, Mac and Alan Willits of Wingham, Murray Willits of London, Bruce Willits of Lucknow, Murray Wilken of Ripley and a cousin, Ewan MacLean of Lochalsh. Temporary entombment was at the South Kinloss Mortuary with spring inter- ment in Greenhill Cemetery, Peter Elymer Reavte The death occurred at West Park Hospital. Toronto of Peter Elymer Reavie, formerly of Lucknow, on Sunday, March (-, 1983 fol- lowing a long term illness. He was 79. Born May 10, 1903, he was the son of the late Peter Reavie and Mary Bell of Huron Township. He was a member of the Northern Light Masonic Lodge, Kin- cardine and Lucknow United Church. Huron Township, Toronto and Lucknow. He was a good neighbour and friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed by daughters, son and grandchildren, He married Bessie Blue of Huron Township in 1929. She predeceased him in 1938. He married Earland Howe in Toronto in 1941. She pre- deceased him in 1963. He is survived by two daughters, Bessie, Mrs. Roy Stanley, of R. 2, London and Marian, Mrs. Don Duthie of Mississauga, one son, Stuart of Lucknow and seven grand- children. The funeral service was conducted from the MacKen- zie and McCreath Funeral Home in Lucknow on March 9, 1983 at 2p.m. by Rev. Warren McDougall of Luck - now United Church. Spring burial to follow in Ripley Cemetery. Lloyd Robb • Lloyd Robb of Goderich died in Alexandra Marine and General Hospital on Tuesday, March 8 at the age of 75. He was born in Ashfield Township on October 1, 1907 to Thomas and Jennie (Elliott) Robb. He farmed in Ashfield Township until retiring to Goderich in January of 1979. He was a member of Ash- field Presbyterian Church. He married Della Mae Farrish on July 25, 1931. She survives him. Also surviving him are one daughter, Mrs. Jack (Anna) Wilson of London; two brothers, Wilmer of Wingham and Howard of Amberley; and two gran- ddaughters, Lea and Brenda Wilson of London. Ile was predeceased by (Inc sister, Vera and one brother, Harvey. A funeral service was held at McCallum Funeral Home in Goderich on 'Thursday, March 10 at 2 p.m. The Reverend G.1,. Royal of Knox Presbyterian Church officiated. Interment was in Greenhill Cemetery, Lucknow. Pallbearers were Jim Nelson, Tim Heurink, John Kuik, Marvin Scott, Gordon Kolb and Worthy Young, Flower bearers were Allan Robb, Don Farrish, George Adams and Grant Farrish. A week ago last Monday evening, Feb. 28, Elmer Smeltzer thanked this special committee at the close of the public meeting in the Ripley high school auditorium for coming here to meet with the people of the area and listen to their ideas on the future of this school. On this special committee were board members Barry Schmidt of Kincar- dine, Alvin Thompson of Kin- cardine township, Jean Woods of Tiverton, W.C. f Bill) Setterington of Walkerton and Gerry Zettel of Chepstow along with Jack Bowers of Chesley and Don Carroll of Walkerton of the administration branch of the Bruce County Education Branch. On Friday March 4 and on Monday March 7 this com- mittee met again in Chesley to consider the matter and come to a decision to present to the full board meeting. On Tuesday March 8, 1983 it was presented to the Bruce Board of Education in Chesley and it was given final approval. Now the folks in this area have returned to discussing the weather as the topic of conversation rather than the future of the high school as it was in the past month.
