After having a very unsocialable visit,
from that guy arthritis, which left me
unable to write for some time, I will try
again to get some of my views into
print. Because I have had so many
people visit me, that share my views, I
feel I will have to continue with the
same line of thought.
I had one lady tell me, "You will
never be able to help Lucknow."
There is one thing awful sure, that if
every one took that attitude, no one
could do anything.
I was in one of the stores on main
street one day and there was a salesman
talking to the owner, trying to persuade
- him to stock a certain line of goods. The
owner absolutely refused, stating his
reason. This being a comparatively slow
moving article, and the- quantity he
would have to stock, and it would not
pay him, because this was something
picked up in other towns when they
went out of .town to shop.
Some few weeks ago the Sentinel ran
a story about a tusinessmens' meeting
concerning, a tent for Lucknow at the
Plowing Match to be held near Wing -
ham.
There were six .people attended that
meeting, and some of them had to be
recruited.
After writing those three items it
gives me a rather empty feeling. If this
is the attitude of all the people then this
is very badly wasted paper that I am

writing on.
Sitting here looking out', at all those
children in the playground at school, it
strikes me that there must be an awful
lot of parents that would like to feel that
their children had • a chance here at
home instead of having to leave home
and go to some other town in order to
get work.
This is most certainly not one man's
job, It will take a concerned effort on the
part of a number of people, to crack the
"Oh to Hell with it" attitude of so many
people, but it can be done.
To prove my point, let's take a look at
where I am sitting right now. The
owners of Pinecrest Manor, a building
which for its purpose is not beaten in
the Dominion of Canada. The owners
started on a' small scale then expanded
- which took one awful lot of vision OS
forethought and here it is and doing a
beautiful job as intended.
Yes, it can be done. I believe 'there
would be a market for four more
automobile dealerships in this area, one
of each of theother three large
companies and one foreign manulac-
tide.
It could not be done over night, but
can see no reason why a dealer could
not give as good a deal in Lucknow, as
they can in Wingham or Goderich.

Then, if the public were buying their
car here they would Want to do their
shopping here as well, enabling the
present shop owners to increase their
stock and selection of merchandise.
This may be a lot of wishful thinking,-
. but if enough people let themselves do
some more of that and had the courage
to put it into action, and instead of a six
person meeting, had a showing of 5
times that there would be an entirery-
new LucknoW,
We have known for over ten years
now, that we were going to have to put
in a sewage system. Now we find it will
be at least three years before a start can
be made,. which according' to past
showings will likely mean six to' ten
years.

-You can not do enough for Lucknow, not

for itself, and if 'you are a tak, payer
that means you.
There is one thing that can be done,
and-tfiat iss put those signs up near the
school or 'tell the public why not.
