It was held from Friday night until ' Monday. As, a result these girls condt%cted the Sunday evening meeting at Young, People's . at South Kinloss.. Doug Stever and Stewart Greenville of Kincardine `spent the weekend in Toron- to visiting with Chuck Hunt- ington and Phil Cutajar. They also toured the C.N. tower. Eleanor Prough of Lake- land, Florida is here visiting with Eunice Cunningham and teachingchina painting in Lucknow Town Hall for two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Reed of Hazel Park, Michigan visited on the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Reed. Mr. and 'Mrs.. Lakeshore Family Centre submits proposa The regular monthly 'meet- ing of the Grey -Bruce Dist . rict Health Council was held on: Tuesday, October 3, 1978 at 6.00 p.m. in the E1 -Ron Inn in Flesherton. The Ministry of Health, =Community Mental Health Program, recently indicated that it would' consider .fund- ing some proposals for com- munity-based mental health programs. Proposals were to be reviewed and approved by local District Health Coun- cils. The Council endorsed two proposals which had been received by the Mental Health. Task Force. These proposals were submitted by the Lakeshore ` Community ,.. Mental Health Association of Kincardine, Port Elgin, Southampton and area, for a "Lakeshore Family Centre"; and by General and Marine Hospital for 'a "Community Mental Health Service Team". In approving and submitting the proposals to the Ministry, Council and the Mental Health Task Force indicated that the two pro- posals complimented each other; Development and ap- proval of these proposals is an indication of the• work being done to establish comprehensive community based mental health services in the district. The proposals must now compete with othets from throughout the Province for funding. The Council is currently awaiting the Minister of Health's reply to the Bed Study. Following ,the' Minis- • ter's reply, District Health Council members will be meeting with representatives i of health care nstitutions and organizations to 'discuss the creation of Task Forces ,°which will bedeveloped its y tbe'Central''a`rtd' iorth'Catch- merit. Areas as outlinedin the, Bed Study 'released" Sept::. ember 5, 1978.`, Council received addition- al information concerning the development of the Psychiat- ric Program and the Rehabil- itation and. Chronic Care Program at the. General and. Marine Hospital. The need for careful co-ordination of hospital requirements re- garding rebuilding as a result of the merger and consideration of the need for future services in the area was acknowledged. Mrs., Margaret. Amer, 'Ow- en ;Sound, . chairman of the Health Promotion rBoard, reported that the board is currently running a-. news. paper poll to determine public attitudes and aware- ness of health services. The opinion poll will first be run in one newspaper to . deter- mine . response rate and acceptability, and will subse- quently run in weekly papers throughout the Grey -Bruce district. • Council will be meeting for a one day self-assessment and review 'session in Octob. er at which time the future goals and objectives of Council will be studied. Professor Maureen Dixon, Department of Health Ad- ministration, University ,of Toronto,will be, moderating this session. The Council received a request from Chesley and District Memorial :Hospital to redesignate five active treat nient , beds as chronic care beds. After • discussion, Council, agreed 'that, further consideration would be given to this request in dight of the local needs and future phut - fling,
