Bible
Society
canvass
in
October
The Bible Society is hold-
ing its annual canvass in
Lucknow during the month of
October.
The Society hopes the
,community will give genet.:
ously to this worthwhile
Cause of translating, publish-
ing. and distributing . the
Bible.
A "dead" language is one
that no longer cominuni-
c'ates. However, a language
may be dead for some who
cannot, understand it, .and
very much alive for those,
who have it as their own
mother tongue.
The ` Bible cannot come
alive for anyone until he
reads it in a language he can
understand. This is why the
Canadian Bible Society has
always found it necessary to
have scripture translation' as
a .basic task.
The Bible Society. hopes
that . softie , 500 translation
projects may make the scrip-
tures come alive for others.
TO do this, $2,000,000 is
required annually for scrip-
ture translation
